Ormo's Back

Ormo is a Tarasque, a creature often known for their intense, destructive, insatiable hunger, one even the Gods would shudder to think of fighting. Despite this, Ormo is not a violent being. He spends his days lumbering around the Setari Desert, eating mouthfulls of sand whenever he gets hungry and resting whenever a sandstorm blows over. Because of Ormo's docile nature, he has accumulated a large number of people who have made a civilization on his back.

The Sentient Settlement, as they call themselves, are a community of around five thousand people, all ranging from different species found in El. The settlement is an as-need society, where the people give what they can and take what they need. The cleric keep people healthy, the hunters ward off monsters who attack Ormo and bring them home for dinner, the druids grow plants from the gardens they've constructed on, and life goes on.

The main lawkeepers around the settlement are known as the Drake Riders, rangers who can dash across scale, sand, and sky in order to defend their people. led by Maria Gilam, they make sure to keep the peace and take in any unfortunate sould that get lost in the desert. Beyond them, the one most consider the leader of the settlement is known as Sandspeaker Koka. She spends most of her time in a shrine on Ormo's head, watching him wander. It is said that she can talk to Ormo, but many think that's just a joke. Still, she always asserts that Ormo knows what he is doing, and that those of the settlement should be grateful to have such a strong protector. She even vaguely alludes to the possibility that they may need to return the favor sometime down the road.
