Bestial Species Dimorphism

Bestial Species, such as Harengon, are highly variable in their physiology due to their stronger connection to animalian heritage. Because of this, they often are sub-categorized into three sub-species types; Animalian, Hominid, and Half-Breed.

Animalian types closely resemble the origin species which a Bestial Species comes from. For example, an Animalian Tabaxi will closely resemble anything from a large (EX: Puma), medium (EX: Lynx), or small (EX: House Cat) feline. The difference between Animalian Tabaxi and cats is sapience, the ability to speak, use tools, and form congregative communities. Despite this, Animalians are often looked over and disregarded by Non-Bestial Species. This is not helped by the fact that, in many areas, Animalians are less common than the other two types, so many don't know of them.

Hominid types are the most common, and is often what those undereducated on Species Dimorphism think of when a Bestial Species is mentioned. They resemble a bipedal version of their origin species, ranging in size from tiny to large depending on the species itself. They, of course, are sapient, though this is not as debated as it is for their Animalian counterparts. Even so, the debates are always bigoted, so no person of sound mind truly listens to them.

Half-Breed types are less common than Hominid, but far more common than Animalian. Through years of intermingling of Sapient Bestial and Non-Bestial species, it has been seen that the traits of Bestial Species are more dominant than Non-Bestial, causing the first generation of offspring to be purely Bestial in appearance. However, when those from the fist generation of offspring began to copulate, they found that the recessive traits of their Non-Bestial grandparents carried over, and some children of the second generation were Hominid types. Hominid types resemble their Non-Bestial ancestry and Bestial ancestry simultaneously. For example, a Half-Breed Tabaxi may look like an elf because her grandmother was an elf, but will also have Bestial traits and features, such as whiskers, cat ears, claws, heightened reflexes. Half-Breed types can also be fully bestial, an example of which would be a Half-Breed-Harengon/Ratutia person. In such a case, the person would have a Base Bestial Half and a Secondary Bestial Half. The Base (lets say Harengon) would give the child the basic physiological structure of a Harengon, while the Secondary (Ratutia) would add features and abilities found in Ratutia, such as a longer tail. This is more genetically common due to the dominance of the Bestial traits, appearing in first generation offspring as well.

Being a Half-Breed does not necessarily mean that they are a Half Species; The genetics that effect their looks can remain dormant for centuries and randomly reappear, much like red hair in humans.
