Forest of Stone
The Forest of Stone is a vast, dense formation of natural limestone columns, varying in height from a few meters to over a thousand. Their shape and texture is reminiscent of, befitting the name, a forest made of stone. The stones are themselves surrounded by thick rainforest and forbidding mountains, isolating them from all but the most dedicated explorers.
According to Listener orthodoxy, the monumental stones are previous embodiments of the Menhir of Fomalhaut, physical forms that have been shed over the eons like a crustacean’s shell. As such, the site is considered holy and is forbidden to all but the Listeners themselves, in modern times. Others can view the Forest of Stone from overlooks on the nearby mountains, and despite the rainforest’s obstruction of the view, many come to visit each year nonetheless.
