Door to the Sea
The Door to the Sea is a natural limestone arch bored through a promontory jutting into the Daens Ocean. From the nearby beach, one can look through it out onto the expanse of the ocean, and the rising sun.
A popular subject for artists and writers, portraying the Door to the Sea is widely considered a rite of passage, and even something of an inside joke, for creators of many disciplines. Poems and paintings celebrating the Door to the Sea abound, and there are no fewer than four symphonies on the subject. Perhaps most famous is the single verse by the celebrated serf poet Ancel ov Tothis:

Shall the tide thus ebb and flow forever?
And for evermore
rave the wave and glance the ripple through the
rocks at the sea’s own door?
