OVERVIEW:
Twenty years ago, Moto Jei was a young magistrate when a major Kolat infiltration among the Unicorn had been discovered and the Kami Shinjo had, herself, led a purge of this influence over the clan. Moto Jei, upon discovering both of his parents were conspirators, showed them no mercy for being traitors to Rokugan. Due this his fierce loyalty to Rokugan and his unflinching capabilities at leadership, Jei quickly became the head of the Shinjo Magistrate and has held the position for fifteen years since. It is rumored that no crime happens within the Unicorn lands without Jei knowing eventually, as his personal seal is on every warrant and documentation regarding arrests.
Jei's fealty to his clan doesn't stop there, though. He's publicly denied pursuing a wife as he admits it would be a distraction from his work. While there are many magistrates that aspire towards his position and dedication, Jei has yet to take a pupil. Some claim him to be a hard man given his sternness and watchful eye when it comes to all things, but Jei has been known to drink freely with other magistrates and even commoners. He was once famously challenged to do his job for an entire year's time without drawing his sword, during which time Jei became so proficient at Jiujutsu that he wrestled a criminal Hida bushi into submission.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION:
Thicker than even most Moto, Jei has a hardly physique that has been tempered through the lifelong hardships of his station. In his younger years, he survived an explosive blast of Gaijin Pepper, leaving most of his body and half of his face flame-licked with scars. His distinct beard and manner of dress often reflect his Moto heritage, something he is proud of. Despite his legendary fortitude and strength, Jei is quick of foot and wit as well, often taking his foes by surprise when they expect him to approach them as most Moto and Bushi do.
