City of Azai

People are drawn to places of suffering, to impossible places, in hope of conquering and glory. And sometimes, they do it to test their own fates. - Kraytos of the Opened Mind
Legend has it that thousands of years ago, a battle between two titans was once fought here. One was Edric the powerful the other was Azai the strong. Brothers by choice. It isn’t clear what happened between them but the battle lasted for a century. Eventually one was victorious while the other was knocked into a pit full of paralyzing magic. The defeated one stood up and reached out for his brother barely unable to touch the edge of the pit as the magic took his life. As time wore on, a great city was built on what remains of the great titan and the city was named after the fallen one. Welcome to the city of Azai. They say that one day, Azai will walk again.
Those who now live there are those with the ability to fly across the pit, above the dangerous fog that could paralyze a titan. Azai is a heaven for those with means of traveling there, free from the danger that can't. And even should a dangerous beast be able to traverse, few dares to get too close to the frightening skeleton of the fallen titan, possibly sensing something that others don't about it. Whatever keeps those here safe, the people consider it a blessing, a sacred place.
The only true problem that arises here is the increased amount of siblings, mostly brothers, growing resent for each other. It's such a common occurrence here that most will not get more than one child, and those who do usually waits to their first have moved out and doesn't let the kids meet if it can be prevented. No one knows why this is, but people suspect it's the resentment of Azai himself, his anger for his brother's betrayal, which affects those who lingers too long in this place.
Once the people on Azai realize they could improve trade with the outside world, they build a lift between the Titan's outstretched hand and the edge of the pit to allow those without flight to come trade or bring in goods too heavy to fly over. Though traders rarely ever goes further than the elbow of the Titan in fear of how the place might affect them if they do, and the threat that he should once again move.
