Arcane
Known by many names such as Divine Power and Mortal Magic, Arcane is the energy that is at the core of all powerful beings. From simply enhancing senses to divine immortality and beyond Arcane pulses in the heart of powerful beings, but it cannot be easily wielded.
SOURCE Divine Influence The Legends of Metkar describe a time when the Avatars of Alazar and Woederth walked among the Ero and Maot. It says that those who walked in their presence became stronger and that they began to control powers that rivaled even the gods. In old Gragot legends it states that those close to the Gragord Court were gifted with immeasurable powers. This type of source of Arcane is called Divine Influence. Arcane Surge There have been times described in history that suggest there are surges of Arcane power that can happen. What these surges do and where they originate from are unknown.
USES Mortal Magic The study and usage of Arcane energy was still in its infancy and very experimental during the Forgotten and First Eras. It takes years for someone to harness the power to manipulate it without assistance of artifacts or divine intervention. It is possible to be born with a innate ability to manipulate Arcane energy however those born with the ability can be viewed as holy signs of the gods, or curses from the Void. The uses of Mortal Magic is limited compared to Divine Powers, but still powerful and very dangerous. Divine Powers Metkar flourished and the Ero and Maot advanced quickly with the presence and guidance of Alazar and Woederth. The Winged Empire conquered the world under the powers of the Gragord Court. Besides the Avatar's of Alazar and Woederth in Metkar, and the Gragord Court in Brugun, there are other fables of avatars being among mortals with astonishing effects. Frogbarrow is said to protect the swamps of Scod and the wilds of Canthar, while far to the north is a icy volcanic island fortress called North Star that is guarded by Mazgar where Vitixium resides. These places often feel and look differently than normal. The air is said to be so cold near North Star that there are frozen statues of where mortals died mid stride. The swamps of Scod and the wilds of Canthar are full of lush forests that span for miles unbroken and teeming with giant beasts. Metkar was once a paradise. It is not just the environment that changes with the presence of deities but also people and objects. The books written by the gods, Guiding Light, From the Void, and the Vitixious just to name a few, are said to feel different than a regular book. The Divine Followers of the deities are also examples of the gods granting immense, almost god-like power to mortals. The limit of Divine Powers, if there is a limit, is unknown.
