The Black Forest
The Southern Peninsula is paradoxically called the Black Forest despite being snow covered, is incredibly overgrown bordering on primeval, and with such a thick canopy that there is barely any snow or light on the ground below. It is mainly home to beasts, outcasts, fugitives, and hidden places and generally best left alone. There are no real settlements as the forest inhibits all travel and attempts to settle. For this reason most travel to the western and southern islands is by ship. The only settlement is a ruined town known as Kattegat.
