Formal Names and Titles

The nonaLivy

The nonaLivy are the Ninth (and oldest surviving) Branch of the House of Livy.

Naming Conventions

The family name applied to an heir is Nona Livy. The formal name for the branch itself is the Ninth Branch of the House of Livy while the informal name is the nonaLivy.

The nonaLivy follow the standard House of Livy family naming conventions. Those who marry out change their primary surname group and follow the standard nupta naming practice. Daughters who marry, but keep their Livy branch as their primary surname group, follow the standard uVo naming practice. Children of Daughters, who are not considered heirs but are entitled to a stipend from their branch, follow the legat naming practice.

An interesting quirk of the House of Livy naming convention is that heirs who marry out (both sons and daughters) drop the Heir from their titles although they do remain heirs and, per Livy rules, entitled to inheritance rights and monetary distributions.

Note that Astra Lyard Nona Livy and Vance Lyard Nona Livy are also members of the Lyards — and have a formal name and title for the Lyards as well as the nonaLivy.

The Lyards

When being introduced or announced to non-Callisians, of Callisia is added after their name and before their title/name qualifier. For example, Astra Lyard, of Callisia, First Lady of Arke Station. This is to provide context for the title. On Callisia itself, this is not used except in the most formal introductions.

Note that Astra Lyard and Vance Lyard are also members of the nonaLivy — and have a formal name (and several titles) for the nonaLivy as well as the Lyards.
