RPG News Roundup 12-16-2023
Hello this is the RPG Crawler, and welcome to another RPG News Roundup, this time for December 16th 2023, where each week I take a look back at the weekend tabletop, computer, and console role playing game news and bring you the highlights.
With that let's take a look at computer and console role playing game news.
We'll start with Loot River. It is due to release on Playstation 4 and 5 on December 19th. Loot River has been available on the PC for awhile now and has you working through a procedurally generated dungeon to explore floating ruins.
Retro style RPG Atlas Wept is set to release on January 17th 2024, targeting the PC. It has you playing groups of children on a distant planet and has inspired by things like Mother. It looks like it will combine turn based battle with action based mini games.
April 25th will see a new entry into the SaGa series. Called SaGa Emerald Beyond, it will target PC, PS4 and 5, Switch, and mobile platforms, and deal with emerald waves that connect different worlds.
Nova Hearts was announced. Targeted for PC sometime in summer of next year, it will be a turn based combat strategy style dating sim hybrid. It has you up playing someone in a world where they and the other townsfolk have been turned into superheroes and super villains.
As far as actual releases go, Dungeons of Sundaria saw its release. It is a hack and slash dungeon crawler action-RPG, where you go through various dungeons either solo or with a group of friends, looting, destroying creatures, and upgrading your character. There are eight dungeons, three difficulty levels, online single or co op play, as well as local split-screen multiplayer.
Compass of Destiny: Istanbul saw its release as well. Set in the 17th century Ottoman Empire, it has you playing a Venetian traveler seeking out the mystery behind a certain compass. It combines historical elements with certain fantastical ones.
The WarTales DLC Pirates of Belerion saw its release. It expands the mercenary based tactical role playing game with new material featuring an archipelago with a population turned to piracy. It includes new adventures a new hostile region and various new factions, and a new way to travel: navigation.
Tales from the Dancing Moon is a casual story driven RPG with certain life sim elements. It has questing and sandbox elements with a story focusing on mystery. It is inspired by classic role playing games, and has an isometric overhead style.
Farming Sim RPG Fae Farm saw a DLC released. Coasts of Croakia is available as an update for the Nintendo Switch version, and the PC deluxe edition, or as a standalone for those who don't have the Deluxe Edition. It includes a new region where you can use a conch tool to learn animal languages and recruit new creatures.
Cookie Cutter looks to be a 2D Metroidvania RPG platformer , where you play a violent Android on a quest to save her creator. It has hand drawn art and is set in a dystopian world.
Eredia 2: The Great War is a dark fantasy JRPG and is the sequel to Eredia: Diary of Heroes. It is set on an open world continent behind enemy lines, where you operate in a war that you are not really interested in. It looks to be using the RPG Maker engine or something similar.
Tales from Aturian is a short turn based JRPG loosely inspired by Dungeons and Dragons and mechanics and with a focus on humor. While it also looks to be using some sort of rpg maker engine, it uses a 2.5 D mixed graphical style.
Cosplay Club is a turn based RPG where you work to become a magical girl cosplayer. It involves changing costumes which give you various special powers, which you may use to save the world. It focuses on crafting, material combinations, skills, and various events and quests.
Knight's Path: The tournament is a short medieval style RPG with a focus on combat. It has a very brief storyline, and has you beginning as a knight with nothing who learns to fight and enters tournaments. It looks to serve as a free to play teaser for an open world RPG Knights Path, currently in active development.
HunterX: Code Name T is an action adventure rpg focusing on fast and stylish combat. It lets you use various weapon actions and magic to explore a world. It has you playing the Devil Hunter Taiyo trying to find himself through his lost memories.
Finally there is Dungeonman. It is a deck building a battler/dungeon builder hybrid. You create your own dungeons using various storytelling tools and then battle through other players dungeons and campaigns that you receive online.
And with that, we'll go into tabletop gaming news. Hasbro had engaged in a series of layoffs, and while initially it did not look like Dungeons and Dragons was included in that, WotC did indeed incur some layoffs that seriously impacted a lot of big names in both D&D and Magic: The Gathering, including Mike Mearls. Indeed many of the designers that had actually been producing good work seemed to have been let go from Wizards of the Coast, and apparently so were many of the team who helped with the Baldur’s Gate 3 production, which … I believe was one of the large money makers for them this year in terms of licensing, wasn’t it?
Given that, I am pretty skeptical over the creative quality of upcoming works, however it should be noted that quite a bit of work has already been done for the next year’s releases. So you will see various products come out that have tolerable design, but the designers have already been removed from the company. It'll be interesting what will happen going forward.
Moving on towards more promising news Paizo has announced the date of the Kickstarter for the Wayfinder Compass. Set to go live on December 26th of this year, it looks to fund an authentic replica of the Wayfinder Compass used by members of the Pathfinder Society. While not a role playing game supplement itself, it will apparently include special game cards and will be interesting for those who enjoy Pathfinder.
With that, we'll move on to minor and PDF releases.
We'll start with 0-hr Kaeru & co in the Armada Codex series for Starfinder. It details two small ships and the fighters that they carry.
Then, Raging Swan Press has a Wilderness Dressing: Travelers. It is available in Pathfinder 1st, 2nd, and OSR versions. It offers various types of wilderness encounters for travelers journeys.
Sinclair's library has Sinclair's Almanac for Pathfinder second edition. It offers more than 150 player options including new classes, ancestries, full subsystems, archetypes, variant rules, feats, items, and so on.
Watery Doom: Finding Your Inner Frog Monster is an offering for Pathfinder second edition as well as D&D 5th edition it includes detailed lore with names, character traits, and titles all to play chaotic frog monsters. It also includes The Frog Curse, a sample adventure.
Darkthan Publishing has several offerings for 5th edition. There is Darkridge Run, suitable for first level characters. It details a dark presence lurking within the wild and the need to deal with it. Then there is The Reach for 3rd level characters. It deals with a corruption spreading to the surface world that threatens both the barony and the kingdom at large. Walking with Behemoths is suited for 7th level characters and deals with the devotee of nature who has betrayed that which he protected in order to claim vengeance against those who would do the land harm. The Vault of Mammon is a 12th level adventure where a group of adventures has been sent to test the defenses of a vault of an arch devil. Incursion of the Infinite is suited for 14th level characters wherein a fanatical seer is trying to make false visions come to pass which may mean the collapse of all the worlds. Finally they have The First Soldiers, a 16th level adventure dealing with the first creations of the gods, the Angels.
Burning Light Press has a smattering of offerings. There is Mini Dungeons, Volume 2 a collection of 7 dungeons suited for 5th edition. Then there is The Princess Frog a fifth edition adventure where a war has raged between a halfling kingdom and some frog tribes of a swamp. Twisted Tale issue one looks to be a zine for Shadowdark Campaigns. This one offers a new region, a tomb to explore, and an archaeologist class along with some new monsters and relics. Finally they have Death Gauntlet, a system neutral, introductory style, meat grinder style dungeon.
Grim Press has two more entries into their Cavern Crawls series. In Cavern Crawls 31: Unseasonable Cold, suited for six level characters, it has something strange happening in a mountain range that is much colder than normal. Then, Cavern Crawls 32: Winter Whine is suited for 7th level characters. It deals with a fae who has stolen a satyr’s recipe for wine.
Spellbound Inc. has three entries in the Scales of Power series. Part One: Shadow’s Prey is a fifth edition adventure for first to 3rd level characters, and is an urban fantasy adventure that has the party tracking down an elderly tiefling cultist. Part Two: Red Dwarf Run is suited for 3rd to 5th level parties where they take a journey across a land, charged with delivering the tiefling to their lord. Finally, Part Three: Prisoner of the Void, is suited for 5th to 7th level adventurers, and has the party delving into Shade’s Haven where a city 's fate hangs in the balance.
The Chateau of Stolen Memories is available in both 5th edition and dungeon crawl classics versions. It is an adventure where the party awakens on a cold stone floor with no memories of how they got to the place they're at, nor the people that inhabit it, nor really any memories of themselves. It deals with a devil's bargain made centuries ago within a hotel of the damned.
Sanctioned Sacrifices is a 5th edition drop and play adventure. Set in a sleepy town, the person behind a series of disappearances must be discovered.
Abandoned Prison is a second level fifth edition adventure set in a mysterious Duskwoods. It includes ancient ruins, battles with lizard folk, and the secrets of a long forgotten prison.
Twice Dead in Terminus is a 5th edition compatible adventure set in a western themed afterlife world, where you've been deputized by the heavens and Hells to take down a posse of undead outlaws. It includes new background choices, new subclasses, new character traits, new firearm weapons, and so on.
Death at Dumont Manor is a short 5th edition adventure where the player characters arrive at an ancient mansion where they must investigate the strange death of an ambitious musician.
Deadly Ambition is a narrative driven, murder mystery adventure for 5th edition. It deals with the murder of a mayor of a cliffside city, where the party is brought in to investigate.
Cavern of the Magi is a one shot 5th edition Christmas themed adventure. Taking place on Christmas Eve there is trouble at the North Pole when Krampus has snuck into the Cavern of the Magi to siphon power from a magical artifact that allows Santa’s sleigh to manipulate time.
Gamingbrew has the Lunar Whisper, a ranger subclass for 5th edition. It is a ranger that summons a moonlight orb and uses different lunar phases to enhance their abilities.
MCDM Productions has two bundles up. There is Arcadia complete which includes the first 30 issues of the Arcadia magazine. Then there is the MCDM Monstrous 5E PDF bundle, which includes a couple of their monster books.
BiscuitTinRPG has a couple offerings for 5th edition. There is The Sanguine Codex: a guide to blood magic, which includes a blood mage class, as well as lore, a spell list, and so on. Then they have Curses Revisited, a small PDF that provides a new method for casting curses.
RPGGamer has Mutated Animal Monsters for Fantasy. It includes a range of encounters with creatures that are strange amalgamations of others. It is available in 5th edition, Shadowdark, and Dragonbane versions.
Frog God Games has a couple offerings for their Northland Saga. There's Player's Guide to the Northlands 2023 version, that offers everything you need to create characters for that Viking themed setting. There are also two adventures. Spring Rites 2023 edition can be used as an introduction module, where characters are introduced to the setting. Then Spears in the Ice 2023 edition continues the adventure, where the party sets out to investigate a rogue iceberg. All are available in 5th edition, Castles and Crusades, and Old School Essentials versions.
Elven Tower has The Dishonor of Thieves, a level three Shadowdark adventure where the characters find themselves in a den of thieves, where they are with tasked with dismantling the operations of two notorious beings.
Teufeldorf is a pre-made town meant to be used as an adventure base. Although designed for Shadowdark rpg, it is adaptable to any system and includes locations, venues, and NPC 's, a regional map, and guidance on handling situations.
Killian's Krawls: Captain Kastell's Last Stand is a first level adventure in the Pinecliffe setting suited for dungeon crawl classics, it has beginning adventures exploring an abandoned Fort.
Skin Walker is an RPG class for the Weird Frontier setting compatible with dungeon crawl classics. It is a cursed shape changer that can take the form of both man and beast.
Necromancer games has Monstrosities, a revision and effectively a reprint of an OSR monster manual. Originally designed for Swords and Wizardry it is generally compatible with 0e and a similar old school systems with 186 brand new monsters as well as hundreds of older monsters.
The Tabletop Engineer has Delver issues 11 and 12. It is a bimonthly magazine/resource for old school games such as Old School Essentials, Basic Fantasy Role Playing, and other OSR games. Each one includes a ready to play adventure, various props, random charts, tables, articles, maps, and so forth.
Dungeoneers Guild Games has two OSR Adventure offerings. First is Dungeon Delve Side Quest: The Lost Caravan. It is a short adventure for levels three to five, in which the player characters must figure out what happened to a caravan that was bound from remote castle. Then there is the Mystic Caverns of Enzirion. For use with the characters of levels one to three, it has them exploring a system of caverns rumored to be home to many curious and dangerous creatures.
‘Till Death Do Us Part, from Adventures in Filbar, is a scenario for second level PC 's. It starts at a tavern where the calm is broken by some young boys charging in, claiming to have found some bones when they knocked over Hangman's Tree.
Wilderness Region Crystal Cave #11 is compatible with OSR and Knave. It is a nonlinear dungeon, the Crystal Cave, that appears randomly and is filled with narrative clues, various situations, and a range of inhabitants. They also have Wilderness Region: Desert #12, which does the same thing but for a desert.
Planet Archipelago has a couple offerings for their system. First is The Bonnie Jane Treasure, an adventure that ranges from ancient ruins to a sunken treasure ship. The second is The Village of Wemyss and the Mountain King, another adventure where a village always seems to come up with beautiful gold items of ancient design, without having a goldsmith.
9th level games has Mazes Fantasy Role Playing Module 17 The Coin and the Well. It is an adventure featuring a good captain gone pirate who disrespected the Lady of Waves and the Lord of Tides who then conspired to cast his vessel off of the sea entirely.
Then they also have Return to Dark Tower rpg. Compatible with Mazes, it is an officially licensed, complete fantasy RPG based on the board game Return to Dark Tower, itself inspired by the original Dark Tower board game from the 1980s.
Earl of Fife games has Heroes and Hardships: A Witch's Desire. A dark fantasy adventure module, it features a hamlet that somehow survived an unnatural winter. It has a boon against all tragedy in the world, but the Witch of the Wilds, who gave it that boon, now calls upon the adventurers to complete a task.
Fel Dark Entertainment has Drunken Warriors and Sauced Sorcerers Core Rulebook. It is an adventure drinking game. Designed to incorporate both role playing and real life drinking, it is meant for those of an appropriate age.
Age of Ambition: Heights of Power is meant as a supplement to the Age of Ambition life path system meant from more powerful heroes. It provides powerful capstone traits, a selection of arcane fighting styles, and a new system of arch magi.
Free League has a few offerings for The One Ring RPG. There's Character Lifepaths, that let you flesh out your player heroes with a few dice rolls to give them various back stories. Peoples of Wilderland offers everything you need to create player heroes from the lands of Rhovanion. It includes Beornings, Elves of Mirkwood, and Woodmen of Wilderland. They also have The Lord of the Rings role playing: Peoples of Wilderland which does the same thing except for the Lord of the Rings RPG.
Hexenreach Core Rule Book is a dark fantasy tabletop game. Set in an alternate hellscape dimension it outlines enough lore for a starting point and is part of the Original Frontiers game series.
Corpse Kings: The Festival of Feasting is a Christmas themed adventure for the Corpse Kings system. It includes an assortment of festival weapons, armor, potions, monsters, recipes, and short stories set in the Gothic undead city of Na-Zaii.
Darrington Press Candela Obscura Core Rulebook. A guide on playing and game mastering a collaborative investigative horror game. It has the players playing investigators of a paranormal society charged with exploring, fighting, and protecting the populace from supernatural dangers. It uses the Illuminated Worlds system, and is featured on the series Critical Role.
Whitechapel Occult Society is a game set in the Victorian era, in a world shrouded by darkness and mystery, where the veil between reality and the supernatural is thin.
Fear by the Fire is a rules light original tabletop rpg inspired by television series like “Are you Afraid of the Dark” and “Tales from the Crypt”. It's a game about telling scary stories around a campfire.
Trinity Continuum: Anima is available in print. Set after the crash which plunged parts of the world into a dystopian cyberpunk realm, it features the number one fantasy MMORPG Terra Surge, which uses a brain implant to make the most immersive and exciting game experience available on the market. The characters are players in that game, threatened not only by attacks in the virtual world but by physical attacks as well.
Cthulhu Eternal: Second Coming is a sort of sequel scenario to events from the original Lovecraft Call of Cthulhu tale. It focuses on a terrible cult that was eliminated in that story, but maybe their leaders got away.
Delta Green: Puppet Shows and Shadow Plays is a scenario set in the late 1990s, an introductory scenario for Delta Green the role playing game. It accompanies the 90s source book The Conspiracy, and has the agents as either members of the Delta Green conspiracy or brand new newcomers.
Black Paper Moon is a rules like tabletop RPG, inspired by the Soul Eater anime and manga. It combines dark themes with mystical powers and monster mashing and also takes elements from things like Konasuba and Harry Potter.
Paranoia: Brave New Missions offers five missions for the Paranoia role playing game, ready to run. It includes Certifiable, In the Clouds, Meet’n’Greet, Stealth Train Redux, and Viva VEG Sector.
Finally, Evil Genius Games has Evergreen Knights: Part Two: Club Leadership for the Everyday Hero system. It expands on information about the Evergreen Knights and basically covers the upper leadership.
And with that, let's take a look at crowdfunding campaigns. Remember that contributing to a crowdfunding campaign should be done only at your own risk. Mention here is not an endorsement, but is for informational purposes only.
And it appears as though a few computer and console RPG crowdfunding campaigns caught my eye this week. We'll start with Plague: London 1665. It is an RPG with pixel art aesthetic set in the 1665 era London during the bubonic plague outbreak. You are a body collector and graveyard keeper, but with the plague in a full swing you must compete with many others to provide for your family without contracting the disease.
Then, there is Shuffled Sky. Is to be a rogue like deck building rpg with tactical combat. It looks like you are exploring a floating continent, fighting monsters, and building your deck to modify the world.
Onward towards tabletop crowdfunding, we'll take a look at Death Defiant. It looks like it is to be a 5th edition plug and play adventure, where demons, the divine, and death battle for the destruction of the realm. The players move between life and death with fatal wounds failing to kill them. Their memory being clouded.
Then, there is Yuletide Adventures, to be set for D&D 5th edition, Pathfinder and so forth. It looks like it will include various winter themed battle maps virtual tabletop tokens and a one shot quest set.
Chillmaster’s Toolkit is to be a 5th edition guide for Arctic environments. Designed with player options monsters, magic items, a card system, and so forth all for 5th edition, it looks to also include new playable races, sub races, a new class and so on.
Then Catilus has Periodic Table of Elementals. It will provide unique elementals for 5th edition for all 118 chemical elements. It will look to include stat blocks, lore based on the science of each element, as well as illustrations for each creature and more.
No More Random NPCs looks to be a compilation of 100+ unique NPCs for general role playing games. It will have D&D 5th Edition compatible stat blocks and cover NPCs in a variety of categories.
Taverns and Patrons for all RPG systems looks to include many pages of system neutral taverns, tavern owners and patrons from the Oracle.
Assault on Witchgate 13 will be an adventure module for Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG. Designed for level 4 characters, it will feature a place of legend at the crown of the world, a prison where even the mightiest beings are kept.
Land of Mist: A World Unknown will be a campaign and supplement for Old-School Essentials. Inspired by classic tabletop fantasy worlds, it will be a whimsical realm with magic and mystery. It will include nine character classes, seven character races, the world and its lore, options to play enlightened monsters, hedge witch spellcasters, lycanthropes, and have procedures for underwater adventuring, alternative domain management, and a mass combat system, dragon riding, immortality, rune spell casting, artifact design, many new spells, monsters, adventure seeds, NPCs etc.
Additional treasures, a supplement for Dragonbane from Philip Reed, will be a set of two decks of treasure cards for use with the Dragonbane RPG.
Primordial Behemoths: Rebuilding Terra will be a solo hex crawl adventure zine. A standalone game about rebuilding a region once destroyed and poisoned by humankind, that is now overrun with frenzied behemoths, you will play as a wisp of light: a spheroid materialized from the awareness of the frenzied behemoths who wishes to restore Terra to her glory days.
Modulus: Shadow Edition will be a table top RPG framework for hard sci-fi, post apocalyptic, and modern game genres. It looks like it will be made to make them easier to run, and built around simulating the human experience with a realistic skill levels, the effects of stress, risks of hazardous environments, recovery time and so forth.
Finally there is Starship Scavengers: Station 31, which will be a solo play, sci-fi adventure plus additional sci-fi rpg content. Supplement for Starship Scavengers it will include the adventure Station 31, about an abandoned orbital research station that is due to burn up in the atmosphere of the planet below.

With that let's take a look at computer and console role playing game news.
We'll start with Loot River. It is due to release on Playstation 4 and 5 on December 19th. Loot River has been available on the PC for awhile now and has you working through a procedurally generated dungeon to explore floating ruins.
Retro style RPG Atlas Wept is set to release on January 17th 2024, targeting the PC. It has you playing groups of children on a distant planet and has inspired by things like Mother. It looks like it will combine turn based battle with action based mini games.
April 25th will see a new entry into the SaGa series. Called SaGa Emerald Beyond, it will target PC, PS4 and 5, Switch, and mobile platforms, and deal with emerald waves that connect different worlds.
Nova Hearts was announced. Targeted for PC sometime in summer of next year, it will be a turn based combat strategy style dating sim hybrid. It has you up playing someone in a world where they and the other townsfolk have been turned into superheroes and super villains.
As far as actual releases go, Dungeons of Sundaria saw its release. It is a hack and slash dungeon crawler action-RPG, where you go through various dungeons either solo or with a group of friends, looting, destroying creatures, and upgrading your character. There are eight dungeons, three difficulty levels, online single or co op play, as well as local split-screen multiplayer.
Compass of Destiny: Istanbul saw its release as well. Set in the 17th century Ottoman Empire, it has you playing a Venetian traveler seeking out the mystery behind a certain compass. It combines historical elements with certain fantastical ones.
The WarTales DLC Pirates of Belerion saw its release. It expands the mercenary based tactical role playing game with new material featuring an archipelago with a population turned to piracy. It includes new adventures a new hostile region and various new factions, and a new way to travel: navigation.
Tales from the Dancing Moon is a casual story driven RPG with certain life sim elements. It has questing and sandbox elements with a story focusing on mystery. It is inspired by classic role playing games, and has an isometric overhead style.
Farming Sim RPG Fae Farm saw a DLC released. Coasts of Croakia is available as an update for the Nintendo Switch version, and the PC deluxe edition, or as a standalone for those who don't have the Deluxe Edition. It includes a new region where you can use a conch tool to learn animal languages and recruit new creatures.
Cookie Cutter looks to be a 2D Metroidvania RPG platformer , where you play a violent Android on a quest to save her creator. It has hand drawn art and is set in a dystopian world.
Eredia 2: The Great War is a dark fantasy JRPG and is the sequel to Eredia: Diary of Heroes. It is set on an open world continent behind enemy lines, where you operate in a war that you are not really interested in. It looks to be using the RPG Maker engine or something similar.
Tales from Aturian is a short turn based JRPG loosely inspired by Dungeons and Dragons and mechanics and with a focus on humor. While it also looks to be using some sort of rpg maker engine, it uses a 2.5 D mixed graphical style.
Cosplay Club is a turn based RPG where you work to become a magical girl cosplayer. It involves changing costumes which give you various special powers, which you may use to save the world. It focuses on crafting, material combinations, skills, and various events and quests.
Knight's Path: The tournament is a short medieval style RPG with a focus on combat. It has a very brief storyline, and has you beginning as a knight with nothing who learns to fight and enters tournaments. It looks to serve as a free to play teaser for an open world RPG Knights Path, currently in active development.
HunterX: Code Name T is an action adventure rpg focusing on fast and stylish combat. It lets you use various weapon actions and magic to explore a world. It has you playing the Devil Hunter Taiyo trying to find himself through his lost memories.
Finally there is Dungeonman. It is a deck building a battler/dungeon builder hybrid. You create your own dungeons using various storytelling tools and then battle through other players dungeons and campaigns that you receive online.
And with that, we'll go into tabletop gaming news. Hasbro had engaged in a series of layoffs, and while initially it did not look like Dungeons and Dragons was included in that, WotC did indeed incur some layoffs that seriously impacted a lot of big names in both D&D and Magic: The Gathering, including Mike Mearls. Indeed many of the designers that had actually been producing good work seemed to have been let go from Wizards of the Coast, and apparently so were many of the team who helped with the Baldur’s Gate 3 production, which … I believe was one of the large money makers for them this year in terms of licensing, wasn’t it?
Given that, I am pretty skeptical over the creative quality of upcoming works, however it should be noted that quite a bit of work has already been done for the next year’s releases. So you will see various products come out that have tolerable design, but the designers have already been removed from the company. It'll be interesting what will happen going forward.
Moving on towards more promising news Paizo has announced the date of the Kickstarter for the Wayfinder Compass. Set to go live on December 26th of this year, it looks to fund an authentic replica of the Wayfinder Compass used by members of the Pathfinder Society. While not a role playing game supplement itself, it will apparently include special game cards and will be interesting for those who enjoy Pathfinder.
With that, we'll move on to minor and PDF releases.
We'll start with 0-hr Kaeru & co in the Armada Codex series for Starfinder. It details two small ships and the fighters that they carry.
Then, Raging Swan Press has a Wilderness Dressing: Travelers. It is available in Pathfinder 1st, 2nd, and OSR versions. It offers various types of wilderness encounters for travelers journeys.
Sinclair's library has Sinclair's Almanac for Pathfinder second edition. It offers more than 150 player options including new classes, ancestries, full subsystems, archetypes, variant rules, feats, items, and so on.
Watery Doom: Finding Your Inner Frog Monster is an offering for Pathfinder second edition as well as D&D 5th edition it includes detailed lore with names, character traits, and titles all to play chaotic frog monsters. It also includes The Frog Curse, a sample adventure.
Darkthan Publishing has several offerings for 5th edition. There is Darkridge Run, suitable for first level characters. It details a dark presence lurking within the wild and the need to deal with it. Then there is The Reach for 3rd level characters. It deals with a corruption spreading to the surface world that threatens both the barony and the kingdom at large. Walking with Behemoths is suited for 7th level characters and deals with the devotee of nature who has betrayed that which he protected in order to claim vengeance against those who would do the land harm. The Vault of Mammon is a 12th level adventure where a group of adventures has been sent to test the defenses of a vault of an arch devil. Incursion of the Infinite is suited for 14th level characters wherein a fanatical seer is trying to make false visions come to pass which may mean the collapse of all the worlds. Finally they have The First Soldiers, a 16th level adventure dealing with the first creations of the gods, the Angels.
Burning Light Press has a smattering of offerings. There is Mini Dungeons, Volume 2 a collection of 7 dungeons suited for 5th edition. Then there is The Princess Frog a fifth edition adventure where a war has raged between a halfling kingdom and some frog tribes of a swamp. Twisted Tale issue one looks to be a zine for Shadowdark Campaigns. This one offers a new region, a tomb to explore, and an archaeologist class along with some new monsters and relics. Finally they have Death Gauntlet, a system neutral, introductory style, meat grinder style dungeon.
Grim Press has two more entries into their Cavern Crawls series. In Cavern Crawls 31: Unseasonable Cold, suited for six level characters, it has something strange happening in a mountain range that is much colder than normal. Then, Cavern Crawls 32: Winter Whine is suited for 7th level characters. It deals with a fae who has stolen a satyr’s recipe for wine.
Spellbound Inc. has three entries in the Scales of Power series. Part One: Shadow’s Prey is a fifth edition adventure for first to 3rd level characters, and is an urban fantasy adventure that has the party tracking down an elderly tiefling cultist. Part Two: Red Dwarf Run is suited for 3rd to 5th level parties where they take a journey across a land, charged with delivering the tiefling to their lord. Finally, Part Three: Prisoner of the Void, is suited for 5th to 7th level adventurers, and has the party delving into Shade’s Haven where a city 's fate hangs in the balance.
The Chateau of Stolen Memories is available in both 5th edition and dungeon crawl classics versions. It is an adventure where the party awakens on a cold stone floor with no memories of how they got to the place they're at, nor the people that inhabit it, nor really any memories of themselves. It deals with a devil's bargain made centuries ago within a hotel of the damned.
Sanctioned Sacrifices is a 5th edition drop and play adventure. Set in a sleepy town, the person behind a series of disappearances must be discovered.
Abandoned Prison is a second level fifth edition adventure set in a mysterious Duskwoods. It includes ancient ruins, battles with lizard folk, and the secrets of a long forgotten prison.
Twice Dead in Terminus is a 5th edition compatible adventure set in a western themed afterlife world, where you've been deputized by the heavens and Hells to take down a posse of undead outlaws. It includes new background choices, new subclasses, new character traits, new firearm weapons, and so on.
Death at Dumont Manor is a short 5th edition adventure where the player characters arrive at an ancient mansion where they must investigate the strange death of an ambitious musician.
Deadly Ambition is a narrative driven, murder mystery adventure for 5th edition. It deals with the murder of a mayor of a cliffside city, where the party is brought in to investigate.
Cavern of the Magi is a one shot 5th edition Christmas themed adventure. Taking place on Christmas Eve there is trouble at the North Pole when Krampus has snuck into the Cavern of the Magi to siphon power from a magical artifact that allows Santa’s sleigh to manipulate time.
Gamingbrew has the Lunar Whisper, a ranger subclass for 5th edition. It is a ranger that summons a moonlight orb and uses different lunar phases to enhance their abilities.
MCDM Productions has two bundles up. There is Arcadia complete which includes the first 30 issues of the Arcadia magazine. Then there is the MCDM Monstrous 5E PDF bundle, which includes a couple of their monster books.
BiscuitTinRPG has a couple offerings for 5th edition. There is The Sanguine Codex: a guide to blood magic, which includes a blood mage class, as well as lore, a spell list, and so on. Then they have Curses Revisited, a small PDF that provides a new method for casting curses.
RPGGamer has Mutated Animal Monsters for Fantasy. It includes a range of encounters with creatures that are strange amalgamations of others. It is available in 5th edition, Shadowdark, and Dragonbane versions.
Frog God Games has a couple offerings for their Northland Saga. There's Player's Guide to the Northlands 2023 version, that offers everything you need to create characters for that Viking themed setting. There are also two adventures. Spring Rites 2023 edition can be used as an introduction module, where characters are introduced to the setting. Then Spears in the Ice 2023 edition continues the adventure, where the party sets out to investigate a rogue iceberg. All are available in 5th edition, Castles and Crusades, and Old School Essentials versions.
Elven Tower has The Dishonor of Thieves, a level three Shadowdark adventure where the characters find themselves in a den of thieves, where they are with tasked with dismantling the operations of two notorious beings.
Teufeldorf is a pre-made town meant to be used as an adventure base. Although designed for Shadowdark rpg, it is adaptable to any system and includes locations, venues, and NPC 's, a regional map, and guidance on handling situations.
Killian's Krawls: Captain Kastell's Last Stand is a first level adventure in the Pinecliffe setting suited for dungeon crawl classics, it has beginning adventures exploring an abandoned Fort.
Skin Walker is an RPG class for the Weird Frontier setting compatible with dungeon crawl classics. It is a cursed shape changer that can take the form of both man and beast.
Necromancer games has Monstrosities, a revision and effectively a reprint of an OSR monster manual. Originally designed for Swords and Wizardry it is generally compatible with 0e and a similar old school systems with 186 brand new monsters as well as hundreds of older monsters.
The Tabletop Engineer has Delver issues 11 and 12. It is a bimonthly magazine/resource for old school games such as Old School Essentials, Basic Fantasy Role Playing, and other OSR games. Each one includes a ready to play adventure, various props, random charts, tables, articles, maps, and so forth.
Dungeoneers Guild Games has two OSR Adventure offerings. First is Dungeon Delve Side Quest: The Lost Caravan. It is a short adventure for levels three to five, in which the player characters must figure out what happened to a caravan that was bound from remote castle. Then there is the Mystic Caverns of Enzirion. For use with the characters of levels one to three, it has them exploring a system of caverns rumored to be home to many curious and dangerous creatures.
‘Till Death Do Us Part, from Adventures in Filbar, is a scenario for second level PC 's. It starts at a tavern where the calm is broken by some young boys charging in, claiming to have found some bones when they knocked over Hangman's Tree.
Wilderness Region Crystal Cave #11 is compatible with OSR and Knave. It is a nonlinear dungeon, the Crystal Cave, that appears randomly and is filled with narrative clues, various situations, and a range of inhabitants. They also have Wilderness Region: Desert #12, which does the same thing but for a desert.
Planet Archipelago has a couple offerings for their system. First is The Bonnie Jane Treasure, an adventure that ranges from ancient ruins to a sunken treasure ship. The second is The Village of Wemyss and the Mountain King, another adventure where a village always seems to come up with beautiful gold items of ancient design, without having a goldsmith.
9th level games has Mazes Fantasy Role Playing Module 17 The Coin and the Well. It is an adventure featuring a good captain gone pirate who disrespected the Lady of Waves and the Lord of Tides who then conspired to cast his vessel off of the sea entirely.
Then they also have Return to Dark Tower rpg. Compatible with Mazes, it is an officially licensed, complete fantasy RPG based on the board game Return to Dark Tower, itself inspired by the original Dark Tower board game from the 1980s.
Earl of Fife games has Heroes and Hardships: A Witch's Desire. A dark fantasy adventure module, it features a hamlet that somehow survived an unnatural winter. It has a boon against all tragedy in the world, but the Witch of the Wilds, who gave it that boon, now calls upon the adventurers to complete a task.
Fel Dark Entertainment has Drunken Warriors and Sauced Sorcerers Core Rulebook. It is an adventure drinking game. Designed to incorporate both role playing and real life drinking, it is meant for those of an appropriate age.
Age of Ambition: Heights of Power is meant as a supplement to the Age of Ambition life path system meant from more powerful heroes. It provides powerful capstone traits, a selection of arcane fighting styles, and a new system of arch magi.
Free League has a few offerings for The One Ring RPG. There's Character Lifepaths, that let you flesh out your player heroes with a few dice rolls to give them various back stories. Peoples of Wilderland offers everything you need to create player heroes from the lands of Rhovanion. It includes Beornings, Elves of Mirkwood, and Woodmen of Wilderland. They also have The Lord of the Rings role playing: Peoples of Wilderland which does the same thing except for the Lord of the Rings RPG.
Hexenreach Core Rule Book is a dark fantasy tabletop game. Set in an alternate hellscape dimension it outlines enough lore for a starting point and is part of the Original Frontiers game series.
Corpse Kings: The Festival of Feasting is a Christmas themed adventure for the Corpse Kings system. It includes an assortment of festival weapons, armor, potions, monsters, recipes, and short stories set in the Gothic undead city of Na-Zaii.
Darrington Press Candela Obscura Core Rulebook. A guide on playing and game mastering a collaborative investigative horror game. It has the players playing investigators of a paranormal society charged with exploring, fighting, and protecting the populace from supernatural dangers. It uses the Illuminated Worlds system, and is featured on the series Critical Role.
Whitechapel Occult Society is a game set in the Victorian era, in a world shrouded by darkness and mystery, where the veil between reality and the supernatural is thin.
Fear by the Fire is a rules light original tabletop rpg inspired by television series like “Are you Afraid of the Dark” and “Tales from the Crypt”. It's a game about telling scary stories around a campfire.
Trinity Continuum: Anima is available in print. Set after the crash which plunged parts of the world into a dystopian cyberpunk realm, it features the number one fantasy MMORPG Terra Surge, which uses a brain implant to make the most immersive and exciting game experience available on the market. The characters are players in that game, threatened not only by attacks in the virtual world but by physical attacks as well.
Cthulhu Eternal: Second Coming is a sort of sequel scenario to events from the original Lovecraft Call of Cthulhu tale. It focuses on a terrible cult that was eliminated in that story, but maybe their leaders got away.
Delta Green: Puppet Shows and Shadow Plays is a scenario set in the late 1990s, an introductory scenario for Delta Green the role playing game. It accompanies the 90s source book The Conspiracy, and has the agents as either members of the Delta Green conspiracy or brand new newcomers.
Black Paper Moon is a rules like tabletop RPG, inspired by the Soul Eater anime and manga. It combines dark themes with mystical powers and monster mashing and also takes elements from things like Konasuba and Harry Potter.
Paranoia: Brave New Missions offers five missions for the Paranoia role playing game, ready to run. It includes Certifiable, In the Clouds, Meet’n’Greet, Stealth Train Redux, and Viva VEG Sector.
Finally, Evil Genius Games has Evergreen Knights: Part Two: Club Leadership for the Everyday Hero system. It expands on information about the Evergreen Knights and basically covers the upper leadership.
And with that, let's take a look at crowdfunding campaigns. Remember that contributing to a crowdfunding campaign should be done only at your own risk. Mention here is not an endorsement, but is for informational purposes only.
And it appears as though a few computer and console RPG crowdfunding campaigns caught my eye this week. We'll start with Plague: London 1665. It is an RPG with pixel art aesthetic set in the 1665 era London during the bubonic plague outbreak. You are a body collector and graveyard keeper, but with the plague in a full swing you must compete with many others to provide for your family without contracting the disease.
Then, there is Shuffled Sky. Is to be a rogue like deck building rpg with tactical combat. It looks like you are exploring a floating continent, fighting monsters, and building your deck to modify the world.
Onward towards tabletop crowdfunding, we'll take a look at Death Defiant. It looks like it is to be a 5th edition plug and play adventure, where demons, the divine, and death battle for the destruction of the realm. The players move between life and death with fatal wounds failing to kill them. Their memory being clouded.
Then, there is Yuletide Adventures, to be set for D&D 5th edition, Pathfinder and so forth. It looks like it will include various winter themed battle maps virtual tabletop tokens and a one shot quest set.
Chillmaster’s Toolkit is to be a 5th edition guide for Arctic environments. Designed with player options monsters, magic items, a card system, and so forth all for 5th edition, it looks to also include new playable races, sub races, a new class and so on.
Then Catilus has Periodic Table of Elementals. It will provide unique elementals for 5th edition for all 118 chemical elements. It will look to include stat blocks, lore based on the science of each element, as well as illustrations for each creature and more.
No More Random NPCs looks to be a compilation of 100+ unique NPCs for general role playing games. It will have D&D 5th Edition compatible stat blocks and cover NPCs in a variety of categories.
Taverns and Patrons for all RPG systems looks to include many pages of system neutral taverns, tavern owners and patrons from the Oracle.
Assault on Witchgate 13 will be an adventure module for Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG. Designed for level 4 characters, it will feature a place of legend at the crown of the world, a prison where even the mightiest beings are kept.
Land of Mist: A World Unknown will be a campaign and supplement for Old-School Essentials. Inspired by classic tabletop fantasy worlds, it will be a whimsical realm with magic and mystery. It will include nine character classes, seven character races, the world and its lore, options to play enlightened monsters, hedge witch spellcasters, lycanthropes, and have procedures for underwater adventuring, alternative domain management, and a mass combat system, dragon riding, immortality, rune spell casting, artifact design, many new spells, monsters, adventure seeds, NPCs etc.
Additional treasures, a supplement for Dragonbane from Philip Reed, will be a set of two decks of treasure cards for use with the Dragonbane RPG.
Primordial Behemoths: Rebuilding Terra will be a solo hex crawl adventure zine. A standalone game about rebuilding a region once destroyed and poisoned by humankind, that is now overrun with frenzied behemoths, you will play as a wisp of light: a spheroid materialized from the awareness of the frenzied behemoths who wishes to restore Terra to her glory days.
Modulus: Shadow Edition will be a table top RPG framework for hard sci-fi, post apocalyptic, and modern game genres. It looks like it will be made to make them easier to run, and built around simulating the human experience with a realistic skill levels, the effects of stress, risks of hazardous environments, recovery time and so forth.
Finally there is Starship Scavengers: Station 31, which will be a solo play, sci-fi adventure plus additional sci-fi rpg content. Supplement for Starship Scavengers it will include the adventure Station 31, about an abandoned orbital research station that is due to burn up in the atmosphere of the planet below.
