The first tiefling came from a man making a deal with a succubus to save his wife and their unborn child from being killed by her. She agreed to this deal, saying his soul would be hers once he died, but he didn’t care in the moment. This child became the first of many tieflings, and the man was killed a few years later, his soul going to the succubus. They say that is why Zuldia is depicted as a tiefling.
