The humans became jealous of the magic that the elves and those like them could wield so naturally. They were scared about what the arcane magic was doing to the world and the wars that had broken out all over the place. Those of the temples also agreed that all other magic was not safe and that mortals had strayed too far from the path of the Deities, so they helped the humans take over most of the world, putting the humans in control with the High Priestesses/Priests as their right hands.
