WorldEmber 2025 Prep
The start of November kicks off a month of preparation for WorldEmber (and also NovelEmber)! This will be my 2nd one! I have been accumulating a bunch of ideas over the past year; I could probably do WorldEmber twice over, but no promises! I just need to actually do it and not procrastinate like I did with Spooktober, haha.
The legends Mochi and Polina "Line" Arteev somehow agreed to be my accountability buddies. I asked if Mochi wanted to be accountability-buddies, totally forgetting that they already had Line as one. (oops) Mochi replied with "Unless Line wants to be a trio" and I jokingly responded with "Trio of Legends". So I guess that's what the group is called now lol.
Please check them out, they're probably more legendary than I am, and I'm honored to be accountability buddies with such lovely Anvilites.
Pledge & Scope
While I feel like I've got enough ideas to go for the 25k, I'll still pledge the original 10k. Maybe an accountability-buddy would help, idk (can i get Janet or Dimi as one? haha /s). Like last year, I think my family will be coming home sometime around the 25th of December, so I'll have most of the month to myself to work on worldbuilding. Or at least that's as far as I know right now. Now that I have another world, WorldEmber will encompass both of them. :)
Also, side note, as of me writing this, my main world (Legends of the Dragonguard) is about 20 followers away from 100!! Never thought I'd see my random world get to that many followers on here, so thank you everyone! It'd be cool if it reached 100 before the end of the year, but I doubt it'll grow that fast. I'm just surprised any of you all wanted to follow my random idk-what-the-hell-im-doing world. I'm guessing it's because of the dragons. You're just here for the dragons, aren't you? Dragon-shaped Xmas cookies, anyone? lol
I do like how WorldEmber is about the word count more than anything, unlike Summer Camp. I didn't do well with Summer Camp this year, mainly because I wasn't around, but even still. While prompts can be helpful for writing, Summer Camp is more focused on getting a certain number of prompts submitted. And the way I tend to write my articles now — with more details instead of quickly written down ramblings of an idea — it doesn't really work; I don't like doing it that way anymore. While I've got a backlog of ideas on a Trello board to write, the articles will hopefully be more detailed than what I was doing a year ago, which means word count is all that matters!

Pre-writing Research
I wasn't planning on initially doing this, but it happened when I tried to start to work on my characters. I got carried away trying to think of some military achievements / medals a character would have received. So I then researched what some actual US military medals were, and what the ribbon devices mean. Then I thought that I could create some of my own, specifically related to more to dragonkin stuff. I may or may not write an article about this during WorldEmber, but nonetheless, it's nice to expand on the Dragonguard's uniform in some way, as I have not created anything for it yet. Here's a screenshot from Discord of some of the things I wrote down.

Look, I'm too lazy to write a list of the stubs and/or ideas I want to write this WorldEmber; I've already got a place where I keep track of that stuff, and I don't want to have to update that list here. The Playlist
Kind of a random list, mostly containing sea shanties lol. But near the end, the 11 hour skyrim music usually puts me in the mood for writing stuff for Legends of the Dragonguard. And listening to EDM, like from deadmau5 for instance, will probably put me in the mood to write for /dev/null. (Can't embed YouTube playlist, so here's the link)World Descriptors
World adjectives: dragony, expansive, dark fantasy, solarpunk, ancient, heroic, large-scale (epic fantasy), conflict. People: People are generally nice, caring, and compassionate, but some powerful individuals are villainous, have ulterior motives, are shady, and have no problem ruining the lives of others for their personal gain. The Dragonguard (local and global) provides protection for citizens worldwide against both human and draconian enemies.
World adjectives: dark, cyberpunk, dark fantasy, dystopian, conflict, struggles. People: People in the city are generally nice; however, they do have a prejudice towards those who live outside the city in the "slums" and are different from them (since they can shift their form, they aren't trusted by any means). The local authority is very strict with the laws within the city, and very few Shifters are allowed in. This has led Shifters to resort to criminal activity for their survival.
