Session 23: Laid to Rest

The Ratcatchers manage to get out of the Warrens and deliver Axto's body to a local church. They quickly return to the Crooked House and get a quick rest in before joining the priests at midday. Here they join in on the funeral service and some even say a few parting words before Axto is cremated on the funeral pyre. It takes a couple of hours for the pyre to burn itself out and the Ratcatchers return to the Crooked House to discuss their next steps. The group decides to investigate where the Mindflayer and his minions had come from and to take vengeance on killing one of their friends.   The group begins by asking around for a blacksmith that references a cold forge. They end up meeting a young man who has a pretty good idea what our Ratcatchers are talking about. He offers to guide our Ratcatchers to the location. During this time Kal'Joha inquires with our Ratcatchers on why they seek out the blacksmith. The group tells him of how a mindflayer has been up to no good and that one of the mindflayers thralls had killed their late Ratcatcher. Arriving at the Cold Forge the group searches for a sewer gate to track the Drow and mindflayer back to their lair. However as the group attempts to open a sewer grate they are stopped by a guard who demands to know what our Ratcatchers are up to. Thankfully Kretzle is quick thinking and manages to convince the guard they are with Waste Management and they are here to investigate some strange smells. The guard is puzzled but leaves our Ratcatchers alone after this.   As they begin to track the Drow through the sewers it takes them a couple of hours and they find a cave full of fungus. Inside is giant fungus that can only grow this large due to cultivation. With the tracks leading towards this cave and the fungus being used for sustenance our Ratcatchers are sure this is the right place. As they begin to investigate the cave they end up coming to a large pool of water, within as Fedi identifies is a Naga. The Naga tells our Ratcatchers that they trespass on her master's property and they must leave. Our Ratcatchers step back around the cave and begin to cast magical buffs upon themselves. It remains to be seen if the Naga is doing the same or not.
