Session 16: The Hundred Pillars

General Summary

The Ratcatchers returned to the shadowed halls of The Hundred Pillars, the air still thick with the scent of dust and decay. Their footsteps echoed through corridors where bones lay scattered like grim confetti, the silence broken only by the groans of the restless dead. Zombies lurched from the darkness with rotting hands outstretched, and the grotesque, scaled forms of skelegators snapped their jagged jaws in hunger. Steel and spell clashed against claw and bone as the Ratcatchers carved a bloody path deeper into the cursed place.   Their struggle brought them at last to the dungeon’s grim master—a towering Skeleton Dragon whose hollow eyes burned with cold hatred. Even in death, the beast clung to its hoard, wings of bone stretching wide as it let out a rattling roar. The battle was fierce, the air filled with the crash of weapons and the splintering of ancient bone, until at last the monster collapsed into a heap of lifeless remains. Victorious, the Ratcatchers gathered a sizeable treasure from its glittering trove, the weight of their hard-won spoils a satisfying burden.   Further searching revealed a relic of particular note—a magical shield, humming faintly with protective energy. Strangely, the rest of the dungeon had fallen silent. No more undead prowled its halls, and the oppressive aura of the curse seemed lifted. With their task complete, the Ratcatchers left the tomb-like ruin behind and made their way back to Lexica. There, at the familiar Moon-Fork Inn, they found warmth, food, and the welcome comfort of rest after several hard days on the road.
