Session 15: Exploring Brafon

General Summary

The Ratcatchers awoke within the smoky confines of the Moon-Fork Inn, where the haze of last night’s hearth still lingered in the rafters. After a modest breakfast and the purchase of some much-needed supplies, the group departed north, ascending into the cold mountain paths that loom above Lexica. Snow clung to the crevices of stone and pine, and silence hung thick until broken by a sudden crash from above—an airship passed overhead, trailing smoke. From it, a lone mage plummeted to the ground near their path, her fall interrupted only moments after the Ratcatchers found themselves ambushed by a ragged Goblin warband led by a towering ogre. The fight was brutal but decisive, the party emerging victorious. Upon investigating the mage’s broken body, they discovered she had been stabbed through with a zweihander—far too deliberate a wound for a fall, and a clear sign of murder.   With night approaching, the Ratcatchers camped among the cliffs, keeping close to the fire under a starless sky. At dawn, they encountered a small group of bandits along the trail. A quick but fierce skirmish ended with the attackers dead, and a modest amount of gold found on their persons. Continuing deeper into the wilderness, the party discovered an ancient stone ruin known as The Hundred Pillars. Inside, the air was thick with the scent of dust and rot. Undead creatures stirred in the gloom, and the Ratcatchers battled their way through winding corridors of shattered statuary and forgotten crypts. Amid their exploration, they found treasure tucked beneath broken tombs and unearthed a crumbling wall inscribed with runes. The markings spoke ominously of the Abyss and the Seven Sins, each ruled by a Demon Lord whose name was best left unspoken. As the last rays of sunlight slipped behind the peaks, the party exited the ruin and made camp nearby, the flicker of their fire barely pushing back the dark.
