Taimana Choryu

Slow Tide Harbor, or Taimana Choryu, is the largest town in the Tortoise Clan's only province, situated just a short ride north of the imperial capital, Otosan Uchi. Known to most simply as "Slow Tide," the port lives up to its name: a lagoon veiled by dense swamp and towering, half-drowned trees. This natural canopy keeps the movements of ships hidden from watchful eyes, though it also limits the number of vessels that can dock at one time.
  Despite its proximity to the capital, Slow Tide remains off the beaten path. The Tortoise maintain a force of soldiers here, warriors more comfortable on land than sea, yet often lent out to guard trade ships or bolster weakened land forces.
  What truly sets Slow Tide apart, however, is its role in the Tortoise’s trade with the gaijin. Ships from Kameyama Jima—a remote island where the Tortoise conduct their dealings beyond Rokugan's borders—sneak into Slow Tide to unload their clandestine cargo. The bay's thick swamp and winding channels make it the perfect cover for goods meant to slip quietly into Rokugan without drawing attention from the Great Clans.
