Suitengu
It was said that Suitengu was a fisherman who saved a young Hantei IV from drowning. His soul was elevated to Fortune status when Hantei V was saved from a storm after he prayed to Suitengu. 4 Others said Suitengu existed beyond human memory, depicted as a non-descript male, hair whipping wild in the wind, an unpredictable wrath gleaming in his eyes. 5 He was an isolated, cold, jealous, and lonely figure, fond of punishing those who would call themselves "master" of the sea. Mortals prayed to Suitengu for good fishing and to keep them safe from sea storms. Clear Water Village housed the oldest of Suitengu's shrines. 6
Demeanor
Suitengu was said was so wrathful because mankind failed to protect his domain, the seas, from the corruption of the Shadowlands. A portion of the seas, the Sea of Shadows had been corrupted. 7 Suitengu sent an earthquake that sunk Morehei Island, to punish the Morehei family, who had neglected their duty with the Temple of Suitengu. 8
Worship
Its largest shrine appeared in Clear Water Village, a port in the Crab lands. 9 Their worshippers founded the Order of the Sea, formed by those whose lives had been spared by the wrathful Fortune. They were mostly concentrated in the Mantis Isles.
