The Living Gate

The Living Gate was a vast crystalline structure located within the core of the sun, Kagoma. It acted as the heart of the Ley Line network, regulating the flow of magic and guiding the cycle of souls throughout the Kagoma System. All magical energy—arcane, divine, and fey—passed through the Gate like light through a prism.   During the First Crusade, Mordred forced Merlin to channel catastrophic amounts of power through the Gate, unleashing a solar weapon that destroyed the Titan world of Oberon. The explosion shattered the Gate, destabilizing the Ley Lines and tearing open rifts between realms. From its crystalline remains were born the Shardminds, sentient fragments of the Gate itself. Merlin later built the Wardens to protect these surviving fragments, one of which now resides within Frostwarden.   The Gate’s destruction marked the beginning of the system’s magical decay, and restoring what it once maintained has become a critical mystery tied to the party’s future.
