Weapon Classes

A weapon, arm, or armament is any implement or device that is used to deter, threaten, inflict physical damage, harm, or kill. Weapons are used to increase the efficacy and efficiency of activities such as hunting, crime (e.g., murder), law enforcement, self-defense, warfare, or suicide. In a broader context, weapons may be construed to include anything used to gain a tactical, strategic, material, or mental advantage over an adversary or enemy target.  

Overview

Following the resurgence of the Malefactors, many new types of weapons have been introduced to the Land of Arkael as well as Elysium as a whole. Each weapon assists the player during their hunts by helping them deal damage to Monsters. Weapons are divided into many types, each with special requirements and a unique move-set, complete with strengths and weaknesses.   Within Roads of Elysium, the player is encouraged to discover and learn the playstyle of weapon that suits their style of play and preference, with subtle parameters affecting the weapon's performance in combat. A player will be able to dedicate themselves to mastering one weapon, and expect to perform well regardless of the choice, in the hopes to create a bond between the player and their chosen weapon.   There is no "best" weapon, as players can craft multiple different Character Builds around specific weapons that have specific movesets, deal good damage, or are easily obtained. Some players may choose weapons for their cosmetic appearance, but in most cases it is advisable to refer to the scaling and Upgrades of weapons to determine if the output is beneficial to the character in a pve setting, pvp or both.  

BLADE CLASS WEAPONS

An edged weapon, or bladed weapon, is a melee weapon with a cutting edge. Bladed weapons include swords, daggers, knives, and bayonets. Edged weapons are used to cut, hack, or slash; some edged weapons (such as many kinds of swords) may also permit thrusting and stabbing. Edged weapons contrast with blunt weapons such as maces, and with pointed weapons such as spears.   Many edged agricultural tools such as machetes, hatchets, axes, sickles, sling blades, and scythes, have been used as improvised weapons by peasantry, militia, or irregular forces – particularly as an expedient for defence.   Bladed weapons are one of the many forms of COLD WEAPONS, a weapon that does not involve fire or explosions (such as the act of combustion) as a result from the use of gunpowder or other explosive materials.
  Great Swords: Large, powerful but slow heavy-damagers, As a weapon which has its own depth of usage and requires a certain amount of training to be able to master and fully use, the Great Sword collection is not just any big pointy sticks   Dual Blades: Light but extremely fast for flurries of attacks, Dual Blades are a high speed class of weapon, that while it offers little in term of countermeasure/blocking abilities, offers lightweight mobility and high attack speed   Long Sword: Nimble and with great melee, longswords are a very popular choice amongst hunters, for its long range often helps keep its wielder away from apparent danger. Very versatile weapons, Their handling is quite different from the Great Sword's, as they lack any form of blocking ability, forcing the wielder to time their moves carefully, less they are overwhelmed by their prey.   Great Axe: A powerful melee weapon, capable of such momentum that the hunter swinging it is dragged around by the momentum of each swing, these are a stark upgrade from the light axe’s of the commonwealth and are described as a marvel of technology capable of phantasmagorical might should the wielder handle it properly.   Knifes: A Weapon who’s age dates back even to the early years, A knife is any cutting edge or blade, handheld or otherwise, with or without a handle. Most modern-day knives follow either a fixed-blade or a folding construction style, with blade patterns and styles as varied as their makers and countries of origin. The knife's normal use is as a melee weapon, an alternative to wasting ammo on weak or lone enemies, but the user is only as good as he’s knife, and many knife’s nowadays are tailored to the user

Heavy Gun: The Heavy Gun is the artillery of ranged weapons. With low mobility but high rate of fire, It specializes in high damage rounds at a range. While it does not have the same special effects of the Light Gun, the Heavy Gun dishes out damage more reliably, breaks parts faster, and staggers monsters more easily.   Medium Gun: The middle child of the gunning community, the medium gun is a balance between Heavy and Light Bowguns. In exchange for somewhat slower movement, they have better power than a Light Gun. In exchange for a lack of a shield that some Heavy Bowguns have, they are far better at evasive movements. Medium Guns also tend to balance the amount of special ammo they can hold between the two other types, being able to hold more special ammo then the light, but less then the heavy.   Light Gun: With high mobility and fast fire, light guns are a treat for those who rather not get up close to whatever it is they are hunting. The Light Gun can be used to attack monsters from long range. Light Guns, which allow for greater mobility and evasive capabilities, and faster shooting, are much more versatile for movement in combat, however unlike its close cousin the HEAVY GUN, which is generally slower, more powerful, and has access to high-damage ammo, The light gun is limited on the ammo it can use, even with extensive mods attached.   Small Arms: Pistols, and anyform of handgun are regarded as small arms fire. A simple and reliable weapon produced most in the commonwealth, many are built to have great stopping power but oftentimes kick like a mule. While small it remains a powerful and versatile series of weapons to fall back on when an automatic weapon or shotgun doesn't suffice, as despite the fact they don't hold a lot of special ammo they are highly customizable. No two are the same  

BLUNT CLASS WEAPONS

A blunt instrument is any solid object used as a weapon, which damages its target by applying direct mechanical force, and has no penetrating point or edge, or is wielded so that the point or edge is not the part of the weapon that inflicts the injury. Blunt instruments may be contrasted with edged weapons, which inflict injury by cutting or stabbing, or projectile weapons, where the projectiles, such as bullets or arrows, are accelerated to a damaging speed.   Blunt instruments typically inflict blunt force trauma, causing bruising, fractures and internal bleeding. Depending on the parts of the body attacked, organs may be ruptured or otherwise damaged. Attacks with a blunt instrument may be fatal.
  Hammer: Slow but heavy with stunning attacks, It is very often to see newer user’s dismiss the hammer for being heavy, slow, and unwieldy to use despite its ridiculous amount of raw damage. Typically of moderate sharpness, the hammer is able to supplant high damage through its often blunt, or tipped shape. A Powerful blunt weapon with a surprising amount of mobility, it is also one of the few weapons that make it possible to stun monsters by delivering a hammer attack to the head. For heavily shelled malefactors, it is perfect for breaking through that tough shell   Great Hammer: Larger Variations of the Hammer, these tend to be the largest of the handheld weapons players can craft or get throughout the world. Because they are among the largest weapons, their attacks are extremely powerful, but slow, even more so then the tradtional members of the Hammer Class. This also means that they produce large amounts of damage and have good staggering power. They are designed for single powerful hits, not quick combos. Great Hammers usually also need to be wielded with both hands, as such they have very high Strength requirements.  

EXOTIC, UNIQUE AND LEGENDARY WEAPONS

An exotic weapon is any weapon that acts, looks, or simply is strange in "behavior". It might simply be a regular weapon with extraordinary properties, or a completely unique weapon to the setting it is in that don't typically fit into any one category. These weapons are often Throwables such as small handheld bombs, baiting bottles, small knives and such, but this category may also be filled with either unique variants to certain weapons that alter the special ability of a weapon, or weapons such as Whips that don't fit in their own category but still deserve a spot in some category or another.   Something important about an exotic weapon is that it isn't special because of its meaning or history, it's special because of its physical appearance or usage. Magic weapons or technologically improved mundane weapons, although they are of normal (if improved) utility, often count as exotic weapons. This holds stronger for, say, swords that shoot lasers or glow in the dark than swords that are enchanted to never break. Their utility has to be the changed or improved aspect in this case.  
Weapons Classed as Exotic
  Gunblade: The 'gunblade' is exactly what it sounds like: a combination of a sword and a gun. Since the creation of the firearm in Elysium, people, similar to like how it was on earth, tried to combine guns with various other weapons, including axes, maces, spears, and even shields; most of them suffered from the same drawbacks as the "pistol saber", cool idea poor execution.   Magic or Special Staves: Staffs and rods are a favorite of magic-users and may have special properties such as throwing fire or lightning—and are also able to be used as a bludgeoning tool. Others, such as martial artists, may favor special exotic staffs that extend and contract, or get really big and wide, like logs. Things like batons, canes, and shillelaghs may count if they are used in a manner a person would not normally think to use them in.   Whips: The whip is not usually used as a lethal weapon: its main role is to keep others at a distance, for controlling animals, or for outright torture. However, those who find themselves able to wield one with accuracy and in some notions even grace, use them as deadly weapons—often thanks to a modified utility.  
Weapons Classed as Unqiue and Legendary
  LORE: Unique and Legendary weapons differ quite a lot in how they exist, as legendary ones can be unique but unique weapons dont have to be legendary. The main difference being that legendary weapons are mostly religated to myth these days, either lost, destroyed or otherwise no longer around. Legendary weapons did great deeds in their lifetime or the lifetimes of those who weilded them only for the story ended somehow, where as Unique weapons have their story still continue into the modern day, either in the hands of one weielder or many. both carving a bloody path through the halls of history in their own ways   INGAME: In Roads of Elysium, Unique Weapons are one-of-a-kind weapons. They often have special names, and are typically obtained as rewards for completing certain quests. They can also be obtained from reaching a certain milestone in the game or by finding them in hidden locations. Unique weapons are often named weapons you can get off of other people. These weapons are special compared to their normal counterparts, as not only are they weapons you can not get on the outside, they often come with their own special mods/upgrades you can not get anywhere else or make on your own.

Vųtgar, the Mask Of Shattered Light

  While not a weapon persay, this Unique item acts and behaves similiar to a weapon. Traditionally, it looks like a broken mirror wrapped over androgynous features. When worn, the wearer is covered from head to toe in glass-like shards of a mirror-like substance shaping itself into long claws on the left hand and making a long point on the right, hiding the hand in the center of it, counting as a Great-sword but only needing one hand to use as it becomes part of the limb. Vųtgar has the extra effect that it makes its weilder immune to all magic, the mirror-like surface bouncing back all spells both good and bad back at their caster, often causing sometime hilarious or distructive effects around the suit.

Made from the parts of a wild winged fire-beast   Rassa's plume get's its name from the plume of smoke and spark that eminates from the barrel upon firing. A bowgun that fires flaming shots which roast foes like the King of Skies themselves, while also having a low chance to set foe's on fire when used as a melee weapon, foes tremble before it until they're reduced to dust.
  Peyeta is a multi-class fighter, shown to have skills in both Melee Combat as well as Magical. In fact if one is to check through her inventory chest in her room, they will notice that she owns a gun as well as spell books. The gun is the only one of its kind found throughout the world fitted with a unique Skin. However it can not be stolen, or when Peyeta is wearing it, pickpocketed.
