The tortoise is a reptile with a thick shell on its back that grants it superior armor at the expense of speed. They are mostly herbivorous, though some consume insects, worms, and similar vermin. They tend to be very long-lived and are not aggressive, withdrawing their neck and limbs into their rock-hard shells when threatened.
