Play Session 8/9/21 - Chasing Varram and Finding Trolls
-The adventurers were asked to leave Boareskyr Bridge because of an errant charm person spell.
-The group headed northeast following a very easy to follow trail into the serpent hills.
-They met four runaway slaves whom the group fed and were able to find out that Varram's group was about 2 days ahead.
-Gojira did a very Gojira thing and blew hit atomic breath into the air one evening while travelling along the road for who knows why and drew the attention of a hill giant who was nearby.
-Amazingly Jilfaen persuaded the hill giant that we were friends while speaking giant to him. He was confused thinking she was the shortest hill giant he'd ever seen. Andhero cast thaumaturgy creating similar lights in the trees nearby and the giant went off to pursue the imaginary threat. Disaster averted.
-Onyx scouted ahead when we came upon a canyon we thought might hold Varram.
-In the canyon was a long abandoned town with some small cave entrances on either side of the canyon walls.
-Most prominent though was a forty foot high opening in the canyon wall decorated with strange runes no one was able to read. The entrance was also flanked by two statues who seemed to serve as a warning to anyone wanting to enter.
-Also in the area was a smoldering campfire with three bedrolls and several shallow graves that were recently dug. These were located near a waterless fountain.
-It turned out that the statues were magical and spoke to the group asking what we sought. Jilfaen said Varram while Andhero returned "Wisdom" thinking the correct answer might have been hinted at in the question itself. The statues liked one of the two answers well enough not to attack and went back to sleep.
-The group debated on what to do next and decided to rest and watch to see if whoever made the bedrolls came back during the night.
-The plan was interrupted during the second watch of the night by three trolls who climbed out of the fountain having smelled food: us!
-Since we had some friends that like to play with fire, the battle went well though it could have been a very nasty turn of events had those on watch not sounded the alarm in time.
Can't wait for tomorrow night's continuation of the story. Bring your A game and try to be ready to go at 6:30 if possible.
