Play Session 2/28/22 - Ambush on the Road

After having camped along the road to the Misty Forest, Joseph the Owl flew back to Jilfaen with a message from the council. "I understand your concerns regarding the dragons flying toward the southeast. However we still need you to go to the Misty Forest. Maybe at a later time we can investigate the Draakhorn." The group's mind was made up and the set out. The group had not travelled more than a couple hours when they came across three lizardfolk standing abreast across the road and demanded 20 gold to pass. Gojira moved forward flanked by Jorn and attempted to talk to them in Draconic. The negotiations were short though as one of the lizardfolk attempted to disarm Gojira and failed. Gojira's rage was a sight to behold as his body glowed an orange and red hue between his scales as he lathered up for battle. The lizardfolk were not too strong, but they were flanked on either side by numerous kobolds making ranged attacks on the party. Finally, a red dragonborn came into view, and the group made the connection to Odrin the hunter who had been attacked by this same band the previous day. After only a few rounds, the bandits were taking serious damage, and their leader took off in an attempt to save his skin. Jorn magically commanded him to stop which he could not save from. The group found out his name was Odrak, and apparently was just a lowly bandit who was taking advantage of the fact that the countryside was distracted by more urgent events.   The most hilarious thing found out during the melee was that Jorn could not manage the scurry up the embankment in his heavy armor while his more nimble allies didn't have any problems at all. The other thing that was a little more problematic was that Jilfaen was a little cold with the group afterward while no one had a clue as to why.
