Play Session 1/24/22 - The Lord's Council

The group was abuzz with anticipation for the day on the morning of the Lord's Council. Jorn spent the morning at breakfast going over court etiquitte in his mind. Onyx and Cava spent their spare time making small talk in the tavern asking if anyone had a clue about where the Well of Dragons might be located. No luck. The rest spent time preparing themselves for what was likely to be one of the most important meetings of their lives.   Before too long, two beautiful carriages pulled up to the tavern to transport the group to the meeting. An androgenous elf with an air about him disembarked, bowed to the group, and bade them welcome as the party split between the two carriages. Jilfaen jumped into the driver's seat not knowing any better. Jorn thought not for the last time how beautifully innocent she was. Conversation was limited on the way to the meeting since the group was split up. So when the group arrived at the site of the meeting, Jorn pulled everyone aside and did his best to give them a 30 second tutorial on proper etiquitte in this meeting knowing that for some of the group, it was a lost cause. He reasoned though that the council would surely know this and hopefully overlook all but the worst violations of protocol.   The adventurers entered a marbled entryway that exuded wealth and station. Alabaster colonades, tapestries, columns capped with expensive metals, all lead to a huge set of double doors of carved black cherry with gold trim. The group approached the doors with care and readied themselves before politely knocking at the door.   Tap. Tap.   The doors swung open to reveal just as ornate a room as the hallway leading there. Several masked members were sitting around on elevated diases. All members but one had either brass or silver masks on. The one unmasked member was a beautiful woman whom the group finds out is Lady Laerel Silverhand. She was a wizard, and her demeanor demanded a quiet respect. The group entered and were greeted by the open lord. Then she began to speak.   "Several years ago we saw the destruction of castle. At that time, we thought the dragon cultists were defeated. But they move again. Varram the White has spoken at length to us. From him we learned of more troubling news: there are more worm speakers." At this Lady Silverhand paused for a moment before looking to her left. "I call on Delaan Winterhound to the dias."   A half elf ranger rose from a seat off to the side of the room and walked over to the dias. Stepping up, he nodded to the unmasked lord in respect before turning to the group to speak. "I represent Prince Alagarthas of the Misty Forest. I have travelled here recently to bring news of dragon attacks. We believe there is a green dragon master and wormspeaker at work there. He is acting in such a way as we believe Varram the White was acting. There have been various attacks on villages in the misty forest. One such town is Altland where there are several survivors of a recent raid... at least there were when I left there. The Emerald Enclave requests the aid of the council..." Delaan looked for a moment to the Lady Silverhand. "...and it's adventurers in finding and defeating this wormspeaker and his green dragon companion. We have no right to command and will not do so."   The group seemed eager to help, but wanted to ask a few more questions to the council. They found out that very little infomation on Severin other than his name and the fact that he seemed to be leading the wormspeakers. The council also did not yet know the location of the well of dragons. The group asked if Delaan knew whether or not the green dragon mask had been found. He said that as far as he knew it had not yet been found, but he could not be sure. The group asked whether or not the green wormspeaker needed to be taken alive. To this Dalaan responded, "Dead or alive, we just need him stopped!"   The group accepted the mission, and Delaan agreed to guide the group of adventurers to the villiage of Altland in the Misty Forest. The rest of the session was spent making a few final preparations before the trip.
