Play Session 1/17/22 - Back in Waterdeep

When the adventuring group reached Waterdeep, they immediately checked back in with the groups that set them off following Varram the White. They gave a quick synopsis of their adventure and handed over their prisoner. Having done that, the group realized that it had been days since they had slept in an actual bed or had a hot meal in a tavern. They took in a collective breath and slowed down a bit while waiting their next summons and assignment. Jilfaen studied one of the unidentified scrolls that was in the cache of Didarius' tomb. It turned out to be a call lightning spell. She tucked the scroll away for future use.   The group then decided to see a little of the city and do some shopping. Gojira and Onyx wanted to acquire some better weaponry. Jorn wanted an upgraded set of armor, and Jilfaen wanted to do some shopping in general. Robin helped steer Jil away from some vendors who would have seen her as an easy mark. She did get a little figurine as a present from them thanks to Robin's connections. After interacting with the street vendors, the group found a weapons shop called Gideon's Glaives. Its proprietor was a gnome who helped our group upgrade their weapons. Jorn showed him the writ from King Melandrach without which the group could not have gotten the magical weapons they needed. Jorn also had his shield tuned in such a way that it could be used as a focus for his paladin powers.   Having shopped, the group made their way back to the tavern and were enjoying a meal together when an individual seeking the group arrived with a summons to the Lord's Council at noon the next day. Jorn suggested that the group take a bath and clean themselves up prior to the meeting tomorrow. Jorn retired to his room shortly afterward to collect his thoughts and polish his armor. Gojira ordered a bath and soaked in it allowing the grit and grime of a couple weeks on the road to wash away.   Robin initially went upstairs supposedly to do the same thing, but sneaked out to visit the location given to him for a conversation with the thieves' guild. He managed the proper signs to gain access and talked with the leader. He was given a pouch of coins as well as a special coin not meant for spending, but to be used as a sign of guild membership. It seemed several other individuals had this coin hung about their necks out of view but available to show at the tug of the necklace.   Jilfaen wanted to look around Waterdeep for other druids and folks of like mind who didn't feel quite comfortable inside such a big, bustling city. Onyx accompanied her so that she wasn't out at night by herself in such a huge city. At some point in their wanderings, Jil and Onyx spotted a crow that had taken to following them. Jil spoke to the bird asking it to come down out of the tree and see her. To her surprise, the crow shifted into a person and began to speak to the two of them. Jilfaen asked about a grove as well as whether or not the individual knew of Jil's mother. Jilfaen was trying to get more information on who her mother was and what made her tick. The druid gave Jilfaen directions to the grove and an invitation to it after the next leg of the group's adventures. The druid knew Jilfaen's mother's name, but didn't know much more information. He promised to do a little research and asking around. Satisfied, Jilfaen and Onyx returned to the tavern to clean up and head up to bed.   The group woke the next morning in discussions about what the group should call themselves before the Lord's Council. Several ideas were put forward, but nothing at the moment stuck solidly. They only had an hour or two to make up their minds before the Council meeting.
