Play Session 10/25/21 - Didarius Speaks

-Jorn attempted to reason with the wraiths rather than fight.   -Jilfaen came in attempting to help with the hand signs that we'd seen in another room, but to no avail.   -The group did learn that some cultists had been in this room because of the leader summoning a spirit of one in their garb.   -Things started to get tense though and Jorn ushered Jilfaen out of the room before it came to a fight.   -Onyx and Robin inspected the remaining doors in the room we rested in and thought Varram's party passed out the north set. The group followed.   -In the next room was another dead cultist slain by a lethal cut from a dragon tooth dagger. Also scattered about were stone bolts   -Shofar (rp'd by DM) identified some symbology in the area as dedicated to the cult of Mershaulk god of Yuanti.   -Opening the next set of double doors, it led to a room with a raised sarcophagus. Didarius himself spoke to the group and said,

"What do you seek?"

Onyx answered a typical Onyx answer saying a fight.   -Didarius responded,

"You will find all the violence you seek beyond the portal"

and opened a door beyond his tomb. He also mentioned Varram was there as well.   -Before the group could head out, they were assaulted by 6 scaled serpent men.   -Between Cava's fire and Jilfaen's ice storm, the enemies were quickly dispatched and the group headed beyond the portal which shut behind them.   -They spent a minute debating whether or not to rest and decided to press on to a better spot.   There was a set of stairs that led down to a pit traversed by a sloped bridge. Jorn lit up his mace and couldn't see too far ahead and almost slipping on the moss covered bridge.   -Jilfaen transformed into a giant owl and picked Jorn up to fly above the bridge and get a better view. Just at the edge of sight were more enemies that would make crossing the bridge very treacherous.   -At the near end Jorn asked Jilfaen to drop him to stand his ground as he assumed an assault was imminent. But a very poor dex roll followed by a decent one meant that he fell off the bridge when he landed but barely held onto the edge of the bridge as the curtains closed on this evening's adventure.   Many thanks to Chris for some truly excellent DMing.
