The Year the Rimeway Froze
Many years ago, historians and chroniclers noted with astonishment that the Rimeway, the great river through Rimeport, had frozen solid. At the time it was thought to be merely a particularly harsh winter, but as time and science progressed, it became seen as the start of a new glacial period. The calendar was already in flux as the science of astronomy advanced, and as the world's orbit and place in the universe became better known the time seemed right to resolve things. In the year 148 Gz, the calendar was adjusted to match the years better, and year zero was set to the year the Rimeway first froze.
