Waeckel's Gambit

Within The Glacis School, Waeckel's Gambit is a possibly apocryphal event centuries ago where Waeckel, housemaster at a Society-run school in Whirrilin, found his school about to be overrun by Svützian forces. When the local militia fell and the failure of the school's defences became inevitable, Waeckel gathered his students in the cereminal undercroft, collected the combined power of their most potent spells in a retort and detonated it, completely destroying the school, everyone in it and a portion of the invading army.   There is little historical evidence that the event ever occurred.
