The Chalice of Gowyr
The feast continued into the night, with the Red Dukes preferring to dance in their complicated and courtly fashions to the food itself, though their preference seemed more to comfort those who did not share in their red thirst.
That was, until, a crowd of mage-smiths burst into the hall. Their lead, an elf called Vrosoc, approached his lord Gowyr and whispered to him as the others brought forward a chalice. At his smith's instruction, Gowyr placed the chalice before himself, and drawing his blade; pricked his thumb, releasing a ruby droplet to fall beneath the chalice's rim.
Unsure of how to view the display before them, the Red Dukes simply watch. One of the Dukes, a younger lord, takes the display of blood as an insult, and makes to pull his blade, demanding satisfaction, and whos stride only faltered when the chalice filled itself to the brim with crimson ichor.
Gifted to the Red Dukedoms as part of their agreement to join King Gowyr's empire, the chalice is a magical item that was intended to sate the red thirst they accrue as they get older. It constantly fills with blood, and according to legend it fills specifically with the blood of Gowyr himself.
