The Reclamation of the Angle of Tyranny
The Angel of Tyranny, a famous sculpture by renowned artist Camille Vandergaft, went missing sometime during the Invasion of Revilla, in the Year of the Crown. Standing seven feet tall and weighing more than 5,000 pounds, the monstrosity of marble was eventually recovered, though not without great effort and more than a little bloodshed.
It was first noticed missing in the early evening hours when its flaming wings did not cast their hellfire glow over the town square during the night. The war fires held the cold at bay during the day, but once the sun set there was little defense against the eternal winter. Certainly not for more than a few days!
What was originally taken as a part of the war was eventually discovered to have been a prank by a collective of radical artists. While accusations flew back and forth between Revilla and the attacking army, the collective was busy making a bronze copy of the statue. It was wrapped in fiberglass to cast a mold, then filled with molten bronze.
The entire process took days. During this time, as the battles raged, the people grew colder and colder. Even the warriors were beginning to run low on heat rations and the army stopped accepting new volunteers.
When the statue was finally returned, the new statue was unveilled at the same time. This bronze behemoth was presented to the attacking army. It was the reasoning of the collective that--as the army was coming for Revilla's heat--giving them a heat source of their own to rival The Angel of Tyranny would save the most live in the end, despite the horrible cost of its casting.
The new statue, called The Angel of Mercy, was taken back to the homeland of the invaders, and the artist collective was exiled for they had taken the power of life and death into their hands unlawfully. They went without complaint, and are "assumed dead," though rumors persist of an underground cave system fed by warm springs where singing can be heard when the weather is right.
To celebrate the peace treaty, The Angel of Tyranny was renamed The Angel of Inspiration.
