Mid-Challenge Recap

Writing every day is a challenge! Writing and world-building every day is an even bigger challenge. Since WorldEmber began on Nov. 30th, I’ve not only written and published this newsletter every day, I have also written all of the articles listed below!

Why yes, it is quite the list! Thank you for noticing! I hope a few catch your interest. I’ve included a brief little piece of context about each article. Please, go; enjoy!

Capitalla University of Arts and Literature - The world’s finest institute for everything beautiful, but especially known for churning out scribes, calligraphers, illuminators, and engravers.

Catacombs - The underground underworld where the wandering spirits of the dead are cured into their bones.

Crossroads Island Freewriting Meditation - Getting my bearings on what needs work; a loose sketch of ideas that needed development.

Spur Blacklake's Murder - The legend of a (locally) famous ghost that wanders the North Dock Tower.

Storybard - Storybards are the most important members of society. Not just potentially, but actually.

Technomaniacal Contraption - It’s not steampunk without a source of nearly limitless power. And it’s not magipunk unless you distill blood for its magical essence.

Thistle Spider - Where does a female thistle spider sleep? Anywhere she wants.

Tilth - The Island of Glass. It does one thing: glass. It lacks water, even polluted water, and is ruled by a cult.

Tombs - Where the bones of the dead wait as they await processing.

United Royal Family of Argentii - From Tige and Talla to the surviving children of Darien and Ellia.

Western Empire - The other major player in Argentii’s political and economic struggles. Heavily reliant on technomaniacal contraptions.
