Erupting Aether
Native to humid tropical coasts as well as fiery landscapes, erupting aether is dangerously placid at first glance. Innocent and deceiving, the vine produces glass-like orbs the size of large apples. Upon closer inspection one can find a tiny flame floating and flitting in the center. The vine may seem harmless, but do not be fooled, for even a slight mishandling of its orbs can cause it to explode in a fiery inferno, erupting nearby orbs and causing a chain reaction of violent flames.
The vine itself produces a flammable aether to fill the bubble, keeping the gas hot with a magical flame that burns in the center. The magic is only broken when the bubble is shattered, causing the flame to light the gas and explode with fiery enthusiasm.
Uses of this plant date back to many years ago when it was commonly used for it's gaseous properties. Humanoid species soon discovered that the only way to extract the gas is to fully submerge it in water and break it, collecting the gas as it rises to the the surface now unaffected by the extinguished flame. The orbs are also considered a popular decoration among rich palaces and dynasties, decking the ceilings and chandeliers with their flickering grace. Many palaces meet their demise, however, when mistreatment of the vine brings a castle to ashes.
