Deathsleep Wort
Deathsleep wort finds it's home anywhere that it can. Despite it's ability to grow in nearly any environment it is still notoriously rare. This pale fungus resembles clusters of warts. Although it may not seem unusual, it is important to understand that falling asleep near this fungi can lead to enduring consequences. Very enduring consequences.
This fungus holds the ability to absorb any living or non-living material and keep it in a super positioned state for centuries. Any creature or object that spends no more than an hour surrounded by this plant will be absorbed a few inches into it's soil. While submerged, the object/creature is unconscious, and does not decay, starve, nor age. The only known way for a creature to escape from his/her infinite slumber is to either wake up on their own (25 Con save every 6 months if he/she is conscious enough to recognize his/her predicament) or be dug up by some outside force. The creature/object's outline can be seen from above the ground, but it is nearly impossible to determine what the creature or object is.
Ancient religious ceremonies commonly involve the preservation of a dying King or other ruler, allowing the body to sleep for centuries without killing it. Many religions believed that by keeping the soul anchored to the body the Gods would also infuse the power which the person held into the Kingdom. It is also used as a hiding spot for materials and weapons by assassins and runaways, preserving their materials to come back for later.
