Chapter 1: The Daemon's Lair
Two men, a sheeptaur fighter and a nephilkin ranger, are walking through the forest and encounter a secluded cave in the side of a cliff. Within the cave is a hewn staircase winding its way into blue litten depths. They, without consulting each other, both decide to enter. As they do a rumbling echoes through the space and the two are trapped. They walk down the steps and encounter a wrought iron gate which is locked with a chain. Beyond the gate can be seen a chambre containing a 30 ft tall statue of a great spined illusion daemon. Blue flames encircle the chambre walls. A small door sits in a break in the flames. Six kobolds prepare a ritual about the statue.
The adventurers search for a key to the gate. They do find a key but it is too small for the lock. The key is pocketed and the two brute force their way through the gate. They make their way for the door as the kobolds attack. The two cut the kobolds down and use the key they found to open the door. They crawl through the tunnel beyond and enter a large chambre on the other side.
In the room are 12 kobolds who are prostrated before a great throne. The throne, crudely constructed and carved with grotesque depictions of spine based torture, is flanked on both sides by bonfires of blue flame. Atop the throne crouches the 50 ft tall purple spined illusion daemon Azyroth. The daemon greets the adventurers and gives them a choice. They can follow him in his conquest of the upper realm or they can meet a grisly fate.
The two quickly decide that they would rather not die and swear themselves to the daemon. Azyroth makes an impossible hand gesture known only by daemons and opens a door in the wall behind his throne. He whisks the adventurers away to a smaller chambre. In the chambre therein lies an altar. Many purple-black candles are melted atop it and a magic circle has been drawn around it. Before any action can be made the sheeptaur is rent in two. The ranger tries to fight but is quickly devoured by the daemon.
And with that the story draws to a close.
