The March over the Bryn
During the initial stages of the
Doric-Aijian War, Grand Duke Arttu's army would need to be effectively gathered to provide the force necessary to overwhelm the Noble Republic. This would require great effort on the part of the Grand Duke, who had previously sent out the call to arms to his vassal via the Eakinhake letters, which would require all relevant parties to provide men or aid for the war effort. It would take weeks for the armies to assemble, those south of the Tora would join the Grand Duke near Kilncross, where they would then go on to meet the forces of Surcount Hannu of Sjolund who had assembled his men on the Rebelly Row heading towards Wheatash.
The two armies would meet only a day after the declaration of war, Grand Duke Arttu is said to have marched them swiftly over the Tora river, with as many as a thousand wagons of supplies in his caravan. Once gathering, there was a quick moot of the prominent noblemen, having included only the most senior Surcounts and Marshals, presumably to discuss the plan of action, before they once more set off towards the Bryn crossing. It is also known that it would be on this travel through rebelly row that many of the thousands of camp followers that would accompany the army into Aijia would be recruited or even pressed into service.
Once the army had crossed the bridge at wheatash, it was a policy of siege and control by the Doric Grand Duke, whose main army continued upon the main road towards
Asjaer, while nearly a third of the army would split off under the command of Marshal Osku of Pilkala who would be tasked with taking the strategic satellite settlements of Aijia.
