Temple of Amas Piarra

The Temple of Amas Piarra is a stone structure built in Hau Minse, Launce, and is the largest single building on the continent. Created over the course of a hundred and thirty years, this place of worship was originally designed to honor Eirunn, the deified leader of the first travelers to reach Retough. The temple, originally called The Temple of Eirunn de Launcia, was finished construction within two decades of arrival in Retough, a modest and somewhat unpleasant looking building meant to serve the purpose of holy rituals, and no more. As time went on, more and more rulers sought to create their own additions to the temple as a way to show their wealth, importance, and to leave a lasting impact on Hau Minse. When the most recent additions were made, the King of Launce at the time renamed the temple after himself, to great backlash from the population. Amas Piarra fought through his entire reign to keep vandalizers from erasing his name from its halls, as well as constant complaints from the locals to revert it back.   Despite following rulers having no real care for Amas Piarra or his legacy, these rulers refused to change the name back to the Temple of Eirunn. The name of the temple became a sticking point in the division of class lines; the nobility and royalty preferred the name of a ruler, while the lower classes wanted the name of their savior. When any contemporary historian looks to the divisions of classes in Retough, the Temple of Amas Piarra is surely the first place to receive attention. The temple is considered to be more opulent than the royal palace itself. Through great effort, the ruling class shows the poor and middle classes their place by keeping the name of a ruler in place of Eirunn's.
