Vibricanth

There are nine continents on Tarris Six.     And they all play a part in history.     Each continent is unique in it's vegetation, it's appearance with mountain ranges, valleys, forests, hills, plains and other geographic locations, and each have millions of inhabitants to claim the land as their home. Each is swathed in thousands of years of unique and special history, and countless events of varying types have taken place there, as have countless influential figures from across known history.     But none are more unique than Vibricanth.     Vibricanth is situated in the southern oceans of Tarris Six, hundreds of miles south of the country of Yesmos in Rethium.      Vibricanth is named after the Vibri race, a humanoid group unique because of their magical abilities and properties, which are rooted deep in ancient history from the powers of mages, wizards, witches and warlocks bent on uncovering untold powers beyond the comprehension of mankind. It is a continent forming the rough shape of a 'V' from the eastern tip to the western tip, and it is sometimes called The Dark World due to it's almost unnatural appearance from the open ocean.     There is plant and animal life on the continent, but due to the properties of those who landed there in ancient times and continued to inhabit the land, those animals and plants became warped and distorted by dark magics and other forces that the Vibri and other races brought with them. The vegetation there seems to harbor different properties as well, as the plants grow taller and larger than most, and they also possess darker color tones than the average member of their species which would normally appear quite vibrant and colorful in nature. The animals too seem to be more animalistic and hostile than most, even common felines and canines appear more angry and unkempt than those living in Rethium, known to be a more peaceful, bright and welcoming place.     There are several races who call this place home. The first are the Vibri, considered to be the founders of Vibricanth and it's rightful owners by extension. Their race makes up the largest percentage of the population, around fifty-three percent or more on average. Then there are the Orcs, beings who are unique from all other races due to the nature of their birth and growth cycles. The Orcs were the race that built the vessels in which the Vibri and others travelled across the oceans to find their home, and thus were able to claim their own stakes of the new land for their own. They are the race with the next highest population density, around thirty percent of the continent's population. They are much more seemingly devolved than the other races of Vibricanth, and yet they have managed to keep themselves growing and expanding for thousands of years. The Elves follow behind them with a population density of fifteen, and the dwarves with thirteen percent. The Elves mainly inhabit the forests in unlisted cities and towns and usually keep to themselves, but there are groups who are known to inhabit the cities of the continent. Both the Elves and the Dwarves here are notable for their temperament as well as their usually darker-toned skin and more unnatural appearance than the average member of their race. Both of these races have a strange glow about their eyes and an almost unnatural blessing to their senses such as strength, while the Elves possess a strange lust or covetousness to their quest for knowledge and wisdom. Another race that has made their home in Vibricanth are the Psedi, who reside on the continent especially in cities near forests and mountains where they make their own homes, although mountains and their caves seem to be the more preferred option as they spin thread and webs to make their homes. They occupy a niche of about twelve percent, although their ability to lay countless eggs may contest that density and place them between the Vibri and the Orcs with a density more comfortably around thirty-five to forty percent. The Goblin race is one of the most hostile in Vibricanth, and for this reason they have been banned from living in any towns or cities due to their penchant to cause trouble and endanger almost anything or anyone that they get near enough to. They are a nomadic race on this continent, and they occupy a niche of about ten percent of the continent's population. Another race still is the Nathair, snake-people who tend to be somewhat composed and gathered as opposed to the other races that live on the continent. They occupy roughly nine to eight percent of the population. The Jeeri, a lanky, tall race of beings occupy only seven percent of the population, and not much is known about them. Humans were one of the first races to occupy Vibricanth alongside the Vibri and the Orc, and although not mentioned earlier, they occupy a similar niche to their Vibri and Orc counterparts. They were the race that was credited with building the cities in which the continents' population reside, and they hold major seats and positions of power within these cities because of it. They occupy roughly forty-five to fifty percent of the population of the continent, closer to the Orc and Vibri than the other races.     There are counted in total thirty seven cities on the continent of Vibricanth, plus one known lighthouse and a large manor occupied by a single occupant and her former family. From the west coast to the east these cities are listed as follows: Philadelphia, Psuises, Chizi, Indol, Qisaq, Tajut, Iodia, Oyyne, Ertis, Pelyte, Lutin, Nursaa, Ycmea, Akic, Rhisa, Szenti, Lival, Stobi, Lusitania, Oea, Rocix, Araq, Sola, Nime, Deva, Elpyte, Acrae, Veta, Tuzva, Dupec, Exuq, Siora, Ostia, Cellae, Obuth, Thitoc and Montana.      Of these cities, Lusitania is the largest and is situated on the edge of a small bay with a roughly rectangular shape. It was in this same bay that the first ships landed before their occupants stood upon dry land, and it has become the capital city of the continent and holds the main governmental seats of power where all members of political importance travel from their respective cities to report to the High Lustitanian Council, which is the name given to the government of the city as well as that of the continent as a whole. Matters of state-level importance are dealt with here amongst other things, and it is believed to be the first - and only - government that resembles a fledgling dictatorship on the continent of Tarris Six. Lusitania holds a population of roughly ten million or more, although in recent years that number has grown to estimate roughly fifteen to sixteen million inhabitants. The rest fall short of the ten million threshold by comparison. There are eleven known forests on the continent but they have not been given names, although at least six out of the thirty-seven cities on Vibricanth reside inside of them. This leads to the note that these particular cities have higher densities of Psedi and Elves and Dwarves than the others, although there are also a fair number of cities located in the vicinity of mountains, of which in total there are seventeen cities out of the total of thirty seven. Of the forested cities, Iodia and Rhisa are at a match for the highest population size, numbering at approximately eight-point-four million citizens with not much closer of a margin for error. Of the mountain-based cities, Rocix is the largest, holding six-point-seven million inhabitants by a rough count in the past century, although that number may have climbed in the decades since; a current up-to-date census has yet to be taken, so current populations of the continent may have fluctuated during this time.     Of the most mysterious places on the continent of Vibricanth, there is only one that is their queen.     That is the locale simply called The Manor.     The Manor is a large stone-and-brick dwelling built near the center of a small island on the northeastern tip of the continent, separated from the mainland by a long and perilous bridge made of stone and wood. It stands several hundred meters above the ground thanks to the existence of a deep gorge bordered on either side by tall and sheer cliff faces. This island is simply called Manor Isle or The Isle. The building that stands there is believed to be more than two-hundred years old or more, as it was found to have been on that section of the continent even when the first inhabitants found their way to the bridge that led to the island. Whoever had lived there before had long since gone, as the house was boarded up and cloths were covering all the furnishings and other décor in the house despite the fact that everything was still covered in dust when it was uncovered. Only a single name could be found in the home on a plaque hanging over the fireplace: Peobridia. The people who found the home were quick to attempt to search it for any sign of who might have lived there, but nothing could be found, not even a small cemetery with marked graves to indicate who had died there. It is thought that the manor is in fact much older than assumed and that any signs of life had left hundreds of years earlier than when the house was first found.     And yet behind this great home stands one final landmark.     The Black-Light Point Lighthouse.     This structure is the only one of it's kind on the continent, and is the light that many claimed to have seen while they were trapped in the stormy seas around the continent's coast before they were guided to the bay in what is now the capital of Vibricanth, the city of Lusitania. This lighthouse stands at an incredible two-hundred-thirty feet tall but is also situated on a rocky island that measures two-hundred-thirteen feet tall at the base of the light. Thus, measuring both the island and the light, the total height reaches at a maximum of four-hundred-forty-three feet high, well above the land on which The Manor sits. This does not however make the lighthouse sit at the highest continental elevation, as the heights of the various mountain ranges easily take claim to those numbers, but it does mean that the light sits at the highest elevation in that region of the continent, as the land slopes steadily downwards as it grows nearer and nearer to the northeastern point of the continent. The Vibri have not held a very good relationship with the Human race, and have since done what they can to split ties with those who live on what they call The Mainland, which refers to the continent of Rethium to the north. Although there are humans that live on the Vibricanth continent, these were already aligned with the Vibri in their darkness and their search for a land to grow independent from the rest of the world and to be free to explore the depths and the reaches of the Dark Arts that the Vibri and their company were so greatly devoted to. In fact one of the cults that lies in the focus of these Dark Arts, known as The Circle Of The White Tree, is rooted on this continent in the city of Lusitania, and it is through this cult that they have founded their own religion, known commonly as Elderism. This cult and it's religion are almost one in the same, although the Circle focuses primarily on the deity called Notlu while the Elderism focuses on the Elder pantheon and their dark gods, and their leader known as Cnudhre, The God Of Darkness. While it is unknown who first established Elderism on Vibricanth, the Vibri woman known as Oothye was credited with creating the Circle cult and inspiring it's followers, both of Human, Orc and all other races on the continent.     The continent of Vibricanth by extension is known as "The World's Underbelly", as many acts that would be considered vile and disgusting to the average man are actually permitted on the continent of Vibricanth, to the point that they believe committing such acts and others will bring them closer to the Eldritch deities, and that acts that display goodwill and good nature are in fact an abomination to the Eldritch. Vibricanth is considered lawless to this degree, and the people from Rethium and other continents typically don't travel to Vibricanth for any reason.     Aside from Rethium, Olgath and the Hispan Islands, Vibricanth is considered to be one of the oldest modern civilizations on Tarris Six, and many of it's roots can actually be stemmed back to the Hispan Islands and Rethium especially because those people were the first to have properly mapped the continent, although the discovery and habitation of the continent can fully be attributed to the Vibri, Orc, Psedi, Dwarves and others as they were the first races to set foot on it after having sailed for upwards of a month in order to reach the distant land across the southern ocean.
