Olgath

Olgath.

Sometimes called The Old Land, sometimes The Land of Giants, and sometimes The Golden Country.

Whichever name you choose to know it by, it is all the same to the people who live there and preserve the ancient history of that mysterious and ancient landscape.

The continent of Olgath is separated from a very small batch of three sister islands, named Dagari, Magin and Ayn, which are sometimes called The Triplets or The Sister Islands. There also exist however two other islands across the sea from Olgath, these being the largest islands of Aan and Naed, who are referred to as The Brothers.

It is situated somewhere in the southwest of the planet of Tarris, between the continent of Absenia and the Histian Empire, and it lays claim to being one of the oldest civilizations in the known world, if not the oldest and the one from which all other known civilizations followed. Covered in three sprawling mountain ranges, and massive, endless swaths of golden grasses and lush open plains, this land is also home to a very rich and culturally diverse history. It is home to some of the most important and influential dynasties in the western world, and is thought to be the birthplace of modern influential arts as well as some of the most respected historical individuals known to history.

Thought to have originated over twenty million years ago, the first well-known dynasty of Olgath was from the year three-hundred-fifty to the year three-hundred, and was ruled by the great warrior Krin Lakriet, who was a fabled and strong Anseryan warrior in the country at the time. Having won a decisive victory in the city of Loon, Krin overthrew the former emperor Seth Oos in the grand palace at Loon, and from there took over the city and the surrounding territories with the assistance of his massive army and their loyal followers who had traveled through Olgath behind them to inhabit the cities they conquered so as to give birth to the next line of Loon Dynasty loyalists. The work of Krin Lakriet was attributed in a way to the conquering of Olgath in the early years by another Anseryan warrior, the fierce and dictatorial Genghis Gun-Goose, born from Osotesh and Azahn Goose in the late years of the one-hundreds or possibly even earlier. Their methods of assaulting cities and keeping their citizens alive but under siege until their eventual defeat or surrender were almost similar, and although it has since been disproven, it was once thought that Krin Lakriet and Genghis Gun-Goose were related via a distant bloodline throughout history.

The countries within Olgath until that point had not been properly defined by the time of Krin Lakriet's conquering, leading to the ease of their downfall and the unification of the former countries into the Loon Dynasty empire which covered both the continent and the islands that were separated from it, as the larger countries on the mainland had gained control over them at the time and had sent letters demanding unconditional surrender under penalty of siege and death to the newly established Loon Dynasty under Krin in the city of Loon on the mainland. Only one island fought back, Aan, which led to a five year conflict called the Aan-Olgath War which did end in the foreseen surrender of the government of the island of Aan.  The city of Loon is now the capital city of Olgath, but it has since been divided into provinces ruled over by a large central government located in Loon to allow the population to diversify over the years. The population is comprised of mainly Anseryan, Humans, Kitsune, Orc and Elves, with not many other races taking place due to the lack of widely-spread races at this early point in history. Of the Anseryan, they occupy a major sixty-five percent of the population. The humans take up fifty-six percent of the populous not far behind the Anseryan, although this does mean that however spread the pre-conquest density had been between other races, it was severely damaged during the conquest of the Loon Dynasty especially, since so many cities were sacked during this conquest period. Behind the Humans lie the Kitsune, majoring a niche of forty-six percent of the population. Behind the Kitsune come the Orcs, and these occupy a vast thirty percent, which is believed to be the largest spread of their species across the planet even in modern times. The Elves behind them take up only fifteen percent, the smallest percentage on the continent. Despite this, many of the cities designed in the later years of the existence of Olgath have been by the Elves and their own forces, and some of the smallest cities on the continent are inhabited primarily by the Elves, as well as one of the five islands separated from the mainland, this island being Magin of The Triplets, the rest of which are occupied by groups of Anseryan, Humans and Kitsune.

One of the World Wonders of Tarris exists on the continent of Olgath. It is the construct known as The Great Wall Of Olgath. It's exact beginning date is unknown, but one of the most fascinating things about it is not just it's impressive and fully-walkable length from end to end, but the carvings made on the feet of the wall by the men and women who helped construct it. They were soldiers, convicts, commoners and even foreigners from nearby countries enlisted to help build the wall, and their names were carved above their self-images to identify them, even hundreds of years in the future. The names have long since faded from time but a major effort had been undertaken and completed to rewrite their names on golden plaques so that their ancestors could one day come back to the wall to share in the memory of their family member who had assisted in creating one of the greatest monuments in the world.

One of the many exports attributed to Olgath, amongst countless others, was fireworks; volumes of gunpowder, paper and other chemicals into a small compacted space like a sphere and lighting a string attached to it on fire, creating a massive explosion, especially a colored one if certain additives were placed inside. The first real discovery of fireworks was found when stalks of an ancient tree were thrown into fire and exploded severely when striking contact with the heated flames of the fire.
