Elves

Elves are the rulers of the world. Tall, strong, and four-eyed (literally), most Elves are seen by other races as idols. Even if they are cruel rulers, their beauty always seems to win them extra leniency compared to rulers of other races. In fact, should you pick any random ruler from all across Restov, you will more than likely pick an Elf. The same is true for bards or other public figures.

While technically part of the human species, Elves appear rather different. While their skeletons are thinner, their bones are thicker. They have two pairs of eyes, one set where human eyes are, and the other set, a slightly smaller set, are on their cheeks. Unlike the regular set of eyes, the eyes on the Elves' cheeks see in magical auras, not light waves. This makes Elves excellent at choosing strong allies.

Culture and cultural heritage

While Elves had their own culture at some point, it has been merged with others for so long that it no longer has any semblence of 'own'.

Common Etiquette rules

Elves are generally rather prim and proper, treating both plants and people with the same respect, although not necessarily kindness. If possible, plants on the ground are generally walked around, and people, unless the aim is to make a friend, are given the information and courtesy they require before the Elf in the situation disappears with a quaint goodbye. It isn't rude, just sudden.

Common Dress code

Elven rulers tend to wear deep blue and red clothing Women wear pants and short dresses, while men tend to wear shirts and pants of the same color. Irregardless of gender, hair accessories such as barrettes and dangly hair ties are common. Ruling Elves tend to be quite fond of eyeliner, and some, although few, will wear the reddest lipstick they can find, usually in wartime. Elves that do not rule, however, generally wear what most other races do, albeit altered to fit their frames.

Art & Architecture

Many Elves tend to create paintings of either extremely calm or extremely extreme landscapes. There is little to no in-between. In addition, Elven architecture tends to involve high spires with little-to-none of what other races would consider 'glamourization'. In reality, however, each 'plain' brick hides carefully carved detail, requiring much closer inspection.

Foods & Cuisine

Elves do not inherently have any cuisine, for anything they had was long mixed with that of the races they've ruled. They are, however, associated with more 'woody spiced' foods.

Common Myths and Legends

Some say that the Elves were created when the goddess Restanye fell in love with a human man, long descended from a minor Dryad.

Ideals

Beauty Ideals

Even though not always, as is every beauty ideal, Elves tend to find those taller and stronger more beautiful. Those with longer, wavier hair ranging from red brown to dark red and those with clearer, blue-green eyes are also seen as attractive. Those who have thicker skeletons are also seen as more attractive amongst Elves, although many other cultures would generally believe otherwise.
