Royal Guild of Alchemists and Demolitionists
Royal Guild of Alchemists and Demolitionists
Based in the bustling capital city of Karfidag, heart of the Kingdom of Eikinam the Iron Hills, the Royal Guild of Alchemists and Demolitionists is a powerful and influential organization that holds a near-monopoly on explosive materials and arcane chemical concoctions. This guild, both feared and respected, is integral to the kingdom’s industry, defense, and expansion.
Great strides were made at the remote settlement of Independence, where the guild established massive works to transform guano—the accumulated droppings of caves and coastal birds—into highly coveted saltpeter, a key ingredient in Smokepowder and other alchemical explosives. This saltpeter is then transported through guarded caravans back to Karfidag, fueling the kingdom’s military and mining endeavors.
The Guild wields extensive control over the trade of raw materials necessary for their craft. They use this grip to artificially minimize the price of these essentials, particularly targeting independent miners and prospectors who seek to trade outside the Guild’s oversight. The Guild’s wealth and political influence enable them to steadily buy out larger mines and resource claims across the kingdom, effectively controlling the supply and pricing of explosive materials.
In doing so, the Guild not only ensures their dominance over the explosives market but also wields vast influence over Eikinam’s economy and frontier expansion. Independent prospectors and small-scale miners often find themselves at the mercy of the Guild’s trade policies, forced to negotiate carefully or risk being squeezed out entirely. Rumors whisper that some within the Guild employ sabotage and underhanded tactics to maintain their monopoly, making the Royal Guild of Alchemists and Demolitionists a formidable player in the Fireland’s rugged wilderness and political arenas.

Charter of the Royal Guild of Alchemists and Demolitionists
Ratified in the Marble Hall of Eikinam, on the 3rd Bell of the 9th Day of Strohast, Year 388 of the Mountain ReckoningPreamble
We, the undersigned Masters and Founders of the Royal Guild of Alchemists and Demolitionists, sworn in service to the Crown of Eikinam and the advancement of the noble sciences of transmutation, augmentation, and controlled destruction, do herewith establish this Charter. Bound by the Hammer and the Crucible, our purpose is to foster innovation, safeguard the secrets of our arts, and command the flow of all materials essential to our craft—chief among them guano, niter, brimstone, rare minerals, and volatile reagents—so that no unruly hand may misuse them, and so that the Guild may prosper in equal measure to the realm.Article I — Name and Authority

- - Sanction or forbid the use of explosives, blasting powders, and alchemical munitions.
Article II — Vertical Dominion Over Trade

- All guano deposits, bat rookeries, seabird cliffs, and other natural sources of nitrates are hereby recognized as Guild Assets and fall under Guild protection.
- All contracts for extraction, transportation, and refinement of said materials must be secured through the Guild and bear the seal of its appointed Factor.
Article III — Membership
- Membership shall be open only to:
- Dwarves of recognized journeyman rank in alchemy or blasting.
- Those non-dwarves whose service and loyalty to the Guild has been proven beyond suspicion, upon unanimous approval by the Masters’ Assembly.

- Master of the Crucible — entitled to hold shares in Guild trade routes, vote in the Assembly, and propose new formulas or devices for registry.

Article V — Guild Holdings and Enforcements
- All quarries, rookeries, and mineral seams tied to volatile materials are to be managed by Guild-appointed Stewards.
- Unauthorized harvesting, smuggling, or counterfeit sale of guano, powder, or affiliated reagents is deemed an act of Material Theft—punishable by seizure of property, expulsion, and referral to the Crown’s justice.
- The Guild reserves the right to employ Powder Wardens—licensed agents empowered to inspect holdings, enforce compliance, and detonate confiscated contraband in public warning.
Article VI — Contracts and Works of Destruction
- Works of demolition greater than a single hall’s breadth require Guild sanction, recorded in the Ledger of Blasts.
- Military service rendered by the Guild to the Crown is exempt from normal dues, but shall be compensated in materials, land grants, or bonded labor.
