The most secretive of the six, Maedrin bound himself to one of the sleeping spirits of renewal to protect the Prince’s wandering court. His presence is like sunlight through green glass—warm yet unsettling. He speaks seldom but sees much, claiming every garden has roots in darkness.
In the centuries after Prince Caer turned his attention away from Wizardry, it was Maedrin the Verdant Shade, one of the Prince’s seven sworn companions, who assumed guardianship of the Wizard’s Study. Once known as the Shadowed Magus, Maedrin had bound himself to a slumbering spirit of renewal—an ancient power of Old Spring—to defend the Prince’s wandering court. His manner remains as it was in those elder days: calm, secretive, and strangely luminous, like sunlight filtering through green glass. Warmth and unease follow where he walks. He speaks seldom, but his gaze misses little, and he is fond of saying that every garden has roots in darkness.
