Grimlock
Grimlock
Grimlocks are savage, eyeless humanoids who roam the darkest reaches of the Underdark. Resembling muscular cavemen with dull gray skin and vestigial eyes, they rely completely on their heightened senses of hearing and smell to hunt and survive. These creatures are infamous for their stealth, ambush tactics, and brutal attacks—often gathering in tribes and serving as minions for more powerful subterranean horrors.
Physical Description
A grimlock stands about five feet tall and is powerfully built, with taut sinews visible beneath stone-colored skin. Their faces are hauntingly blank with sunken sockets where their eyes once were, giving an eerie, eyeless gaze. Years spent in deep gloom have rendered their sight useless, but their bodies have adapted for underground survival, allowing them to blend seamlessly into rocky terrain and move silently despite their size.
Combat Behavior
Grimlocks are hunters, favoring ambush and guerrilla tactics over direct confrontation. They wield spiked bone clubs or stone axes, striking suddenly from hiding. Their keen senses grant them blindsight out to 30-40 feet, and they have advantage on all Perception checks relying on hearing or smell. Stone Camouflage lets them excel at hiding in rocky environments. Grimlocks are immune to being blinded and visual illusions, making them highly dangerous in darkness and tunnels.

Ecology and Habitats
Grimlocks dwell in ancient caves, ruins, and the winding tunnels of the Underdark. They form tightly knit packs and tribes, often led by the strongest among them. Though primitive, they are cunning, suspicious, and fiercely territorial. Legends speak of grimlock tribes enslaved or manipulated by sinister masters such as mind flayers or necromancers. They value food, tools, and trophies over gold or wealth; their society is built on survival and strength alone.
