Charter of the Firelands Stockgrowers’ Association
Founded this 14th day of Kahehn, in the Year 487Preamble
We, the undersigned proprietors of substantial grazing lands, cattle herds, and associated enterprises within the Territory of the Firelands, being desirous of safeguarding our mutual interests, improving the quality and trade of livestock, and maintaining order and respect for lawful property rights, do hereby form ourselves into the Firelands Stockgrowers’ Association.Article I — Name & Purpose
1. This organization shall be known as the Firelands Stockgrowers’ Association (“the Association”). 2. The purposes of the Association are:- a. To protect the herds, lands, and economic standing of its members.
- b. To set fair and consistent rules for cattle branding, driving, and trading.
- c. To defend against acts of rustling, fraud, trespass, or unlawful seizure.
- d. To promote the general prosperity of ranching within the Territory.
Article II — Membership
1. Membership shall be open exclusively to:- Owners and operators of ranches exceeding 500 head of cattle or equivalent acreage of grazing land.
- Traders and businessmen of substantial standing whose affairs directly involve the cattle trade.
2. Admission to the Association requires:
- Nomination by an existing member in good standing.
- Approval by a vote of no fewer than two-thirds of the current membership.
Article III — Officers
1. The officers of the Association shall include:- President — to preside over meetings, represent the Association publicly, and authorize official actions.
- Vice President — to assist and serve in the President’s stead when necessary.
- Treasurer — to keep accurate accounts of Association funds and expenditures.
- Secretary — to maintain minutes, correspondence, and official records.
Article IV — Meetings
1. The Association shall convene in regular session on the first Saturday of each month, at a location designated by the President.2. Special meetings may be called by the President or at the request of five members.
3. A quorum shall consist of no fewer than half of the total membership.
Article V — Branding & Range Rules
1. Each member’s brand shall be registered with the Association and honored without challenge.2. Unauthorized use, alteration, or removal of a member’s brand constitutes grounds for expulsion and legal reprisal.
3. Agreements concerning open range grazing, water rights, cattle drives, and trail usage shall be recorded in the Association ledger and binding upon all members.
Article VI — Defense of Property & Justice
1. The Association shall act in unison against cattle rustling, encroachment, and depredation.2. Funds may be appropriated for the hiring of deputized stock detectives and trail hands to enforce the peace.
3. Where the law proves insufficient, the Association reserves the right to take reasonable and proportionate measures to secure its members’ property and persons.
Article VII — Amendments
Amendments to this Charter may be proposed in writing and shall require approval by three-fourths of the membership present at a duly called meeting.Signed this day by the Founding Members of the Firelands Stockgrowers’ Association *(List of rancher names and signatures here)*
