Crawling Claw
Crawling Claw
lesser undead minion
Crawling claws are Tiny undead made from severed humanoid hands, animated through dark necromantic rituals to continue the murderous impulses of their former owners. Often bound to the hands of killers and other violent souls, these disembodied appendages serve as expendable minions, spies, and killers for sinister spellcasters.
Creation and nature
To create a crawling claw, a necromancer performs a specialized ritual on a freshly severed hand, binding a fragment of a murderer’s life force or soul to the limb. The resulting undead retains only twisted emotional echoes—hate, jealousy, or greed—rather than full memories, leaving it a spiteful, semi-intelligent killer wholly obedient to its creator’s will.
Basic Information
Anatomy
A crawling claw looks like a withered, bloodstained hand that scuttles on its fingers like a fleshy spider, sometimes still bearing rings, tattoos, or manacles from its former life. Many are left hands by tradition and superstition, and they often drip old gore or dirt as they crawl along floors, walls, and ceilings.
Behaviour
Despite lacking eyes, crawling claws sense their surroundings through supernatural awareness, allowing them to navigate darkness and hunt unseen. They move quietly, climb with ease, and strike by scratching, strangling, or pummeling vulnerable targets, often attacking in groups that swarm over a victim.
Crawling claws frequently act as scouts, guards, or covert assassins in the service of necromancers, warlocks, or other sinister patrons. Their small size and expendable nature make them ideal for patrolling lairs, triggering traps, spying on intruders, or foreshadowing the presence of far more dangerous undead deeper within a dungeon.
