Twig was born and raised in Creag Edach in the realm of Fey Prince Caer, Tèarmann Nàdair. His parents are servants of the prince’s court, and he is the fifth child of seven, third son. He’s short and skinny compared to his siblings, and his love of climbing trees paired with his tendency to fall out of them and snap his bones earned him the nickname Twig. Often laid up for weeks as a result, he developed a love for reading, music, and poetry. When mobile, he cornered elders to learn their stories and songs, and wrote them down in collections. His skills as a calligrapher, researcher, and bard grew, and he was accepted for training as a skald by Maestro Jim Andrakir of Prince Caer’s court.

Twig met Sheriff Walker at a fête at Prince Caer’s court (the prince was not in attendance, he rarely is these days). Twig asked Sheriff Walker about the story of when Monroe fell, not knowing it was such a sore topic for the Sheriff. When he was harshly rebuffed, Twig died of shame and left the Sheriff alone. After asking around and learning as much of the story as he could, he humbly approached the Sheriff again and apologized. They found other subjects to discuss, and Twig learned of the need for new deputies for the southern lands. He did manage to pry some stories out of Sheriff Walker (none related to the tragedy of Monroe). Inspired, Twig now wants to train with Sheriff Walker to protect his homeland, find new stories, and maybe be a part of them too.

Twig receives bardic instruction from the tiefling Jym, the head entertainer for Prince Caer's court.

Informally, Twig seeks out knowledge from whoever gives it and has learned many regional songs and stories that way.

Twig is beginning training as a Deputy of Monroe.

Twig has collected a series of regional folk stories: "Tales of Tèarmann Nàdair" (includes Prince Caer, The Founding of Tèarmann Nàdair, The Year of the Great Floods, Pig Feathers, and ten other tales).

He has also collected some regional ballads and folk songs: "Songs of Tèarmann Nàdair" (includes Feywild Lament, Bonny Jolly Rowan, Bunny Tails, The Working Song, and 12 others).

Twig has climbed all the climbable trees in Creag Edach.

Twig has a lifelong history of falling out of trees and breaking bones.

Against all odds, Twig had a happy and loving childhood. Except for all the broken bones.

Twig's insatiable love for stories motivates him to find new ones and collect them so he can share them with others. His overarching obsession is with a legendary and mysterious collection of songs and stories called the "Songs of the Crystal Queen." The fact that any part of it is banned in Prince Caer's court has not deterred him in the slightest; it has instead irrevocably piqued his curiosity.

Twig prays to whatever god is appropriate given the circumstances, but he is especially drawn to Mendohr, god of Palace of Ivory Towers, a god of knowledge, as well as multiple gods of music and beauty.

Twig is friendly, a good conversationalist, a good listener, and an excellent orator. People tend to find him charming and well-spoken.

The Rynear family homestead has a variety of typical farm animals and pets. He has three favorite cats, but they belong to themselves.
