Brainstorming Darkroot Story

Story Overview: The story of Darkroot and a couple paths to take

War Before: The war before (placeholder) devastated the land and left a lot of negative energy and dead people. Necromancers, slated to be executed, offered to help and 'earn' their stays of execution. This lead to a rise of undead labor.

One of their big things was Necrotrees, which took all the negative energy and dead and turned it into fruits and a magical gas (work on this necrotree gas)

War before may be based on Lord of the Rings' War of the Ring.

Main Character: Main character is a paladin, part of the battle to destroy the Darkroot. He supposedly died, but the meenlock survivors were able to restore him to health using the Darkroot's power, or at least, magical roots. He cannot take out the roots without killing himself when he first wakes up, but after progressing, he'll be able to remove it without issue.
