Cassandra was born on the Eden city-ship only a few years after its construction was completed. Her father was a pilot on Eden who shuttled tourists back and forth from Dominion. When the Annihilation meteor arrived, he volunteered to help shuttle inhabitants of Renatus to the Exodus, and even smuggled some non-priority citizens. Unfortunately, he perished due to the infection. Cassandra’s mother is a nutritionist aboard the Eden named Jacqueline Black. She caters regularly to tourist clientele and is a liaison to SoCo military’s nutritional needs.   Cassandra was only 6 years old when Annihilation happened.   Children on Eden generally have one of two options for future life scenarios. Military or catering to tourism. After Cassandra’s father perished, her mother became involved with another man- a soldier of the Southern Coalition of Dominion. He persuaded Jacqueline to enroll Cassandra in early cadet training and through this program Cass learned the discipline and logical skills to further her future as a current repair technician.   Cass isn’t a daredevil by nature, but she is highly capable of risk assessment, partly due to her father’s untimely death which lead to a certain special awareness for dangerous situations. That’s not to say she’ll avoid danger, she simply weighs all possibilities well before proceeding.   Cassandra has a special love for piloting. It’s the lasting connection she has with her deceased father. Some of her fondest memories as a child were ‘exploring’ the universe with her father on his shuttling trips. Over the years she has become somewhat distanced from her mother, unable to relate to her easily. Despite Cassandra’s heightened ability to assess the risks of a situation, she can be somewhat short-sighted and reckless. She has a dire need to be the unspoken hero, as this is how she always perceived her father.
