Mars
Mars is the fourth planet in the Martian System, and the first in the system to join the Interplanetary Alliance. It was named not by its own people, but by humans; so were its indigenous sapient species, Martians. Its neighbouring planet Earth's time travel technology had quite an impact on Martian history.
History
When Mars was still classified as a Non-Integrated Planet by the Interplanetary Alliance, a human time-traveller came across an old Alpazoi spaceship on Earth and decided to visit the planet he knew as Mars. He successfully arrived, and convinced the locals to name their planet as such; this led to the species itself being called Martians. Both names stuck, and led to their solar system being called the Martian System when Mars was redesignated an Integrated Planet.
