The Vaneforge Snail

The Vaneforge snail is a mollusk that grows to approximately 35cm in length. They are DEFINITELY for eating! One thing that separates them from a regular lava snail would be the ability to change shell color to the owner's command. The snails have a community spirit and when they pass they always greet each other.   SNAIL farming: 
The Vaneforge snails are fed various types of wild plants and flowers which give them their flavor (a highly reguarded nutty, mossy flavor).
There are approximately 40,000 burgundy snails in 4 fields
  The Vaneforge Snails are a popular meat substitute for clergy, nobles, and the poor... originally almost eradicating them and starting a SNAIL war, a Vaneforge ancester helped save their species by starting his own snail farm. (Many claim this was the beginning, and source, of the Vaneforge fortune.)
They are harvested after a fattening period of 4-5 years. At the start of Autumn they retreat into their shells, then, protected by a thin layer of chalk, they go into hibernation which allows them to be transported long distances.
There is what is known as a "Snail King"- sortof like a Queen Bee, the Snail King manages, runs, and keeps in check the entire snail family. Each of the four fields are really 4 families of snails, so each one has their own "king". 2 of the Kings are the personal lap pets of 2 Vaneforges!
  Another thing that makes it interesting is the core of the snail is a heat reactor used to run steam pistons used for multiple augmentations. So far the only known information about these snails is that it has some unlocked potential and the Vaneforge family seems to be the only ones who know it.
