Cirrovul (Sear-row-vul)

The Freeborne Whisperer

What freedom is there to be found amidst the rays of a sunny day when the kiss of a raindrop can convey the story of a life unchained?    Drawn from those who enjoyed walking freely in the path of storms, Cirrovul are wise and playful lesser divines often used when Caldros requires a more subtle approach to conveying his messages. Swift-winged and intelligent, the grey-furred Cirrovl are vulpine-like creatures whose considered words can give weight to any decision. However, they are not emotionless sages. Valuing freedom of self to an intense degree, the Cirrovul can unleash their fury at those they deem restrictive of that unalienable right.   While many would consider this aspect to put the seemingly freedom-loving Cirrovul at odds with their creator, who keeps mortals upon his captured trophy islands within Xepherypha, this does not seem to be the case. This is speculated to perhaps be because the Cirrovul consider storms to be the ultimate expression of freedom or perhaps it is because the mortals can act however they choose upon the islands with little restriction beyond furthering Caldros' eternal wrath. Much like how one is free to build their home again and again in the face of a tropical storm every time it is torn down.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Bearing feathered wings upon their backs, the fox-like Cirrovul express a kind of four-legged grace that reminds one of clouds drifting through the sky. Vulpine in nature, the grey messengers of Caldros possess bushy tails and various distinguishing black or white marks upon their bodies that serve to differentiate them from their kin. When angered, their fur and feathers will often darken dramatically and stand on end as a warning to those around them.

Genetics and Reproduction

Enjoying frolicking in storms much as they did in their mortal lives, the Cirrovul are crafted by Caldros from the souls of those who enjoyed the natural freedoms that stormy weather might give. As such, they do not have a natural reproductive cycle though it has been stated that they have a tendency to have their love for being in harsh weather rub off on those around them.

Ecology and Habitats

Despite their usual attempts to seem serious and wise, the Cirrovul will often take on a playful nature when exposed to the stormy weather that they enjoy. As such, they can often be seen darting about with their kin among the hurricane clouds of Xepherypha with lighthearted abandon, only landing upon its many trophy islands when they need a moment of respite or a running start to leap into the winds once more. Upon mortal planes, they will frequently find excuses to stretch their wings with a light breeze and a scent of petrichor always seeming to follow in their wake.

Behaviour

Often given as companions to those who are storm-favored, the playful Cirrovul are inclined to act as a source of wise counsel for their charges with an emphasis on maintaining one's general freedoms. Should their own freedom be infringed upon, however, or they are risen to anger, the Cirrovul are more than capable of defending themselves with minor natural disasters and storms that seem to come from nowhere.

During this time, they can become excited as the freedom of the storm they enjoy approaches and will become irritable if denied this opportunity. Once in flight, they can use their senses to find small details that are easy for those down below to miss.
